Vermont Business Magazine Today, Vermont Commission on Women Chair Esther Charlestin announced her candidacy for Vermont Lieutenant Governor. Commissioner Charlestin will seek the Democratic nomination to serve all Vermonters. Already former Lieutenant governor Molly Gray has announced she will again seek the Democratic nomination for the post, as has another Democrat, Ryan McLaren. Current Republican Lieutenant Governor John Rodgers has said he would seek reelection.
“I’ve spent my entire career bridging the gap between communities, and I’m thrilled to announce my candidacy to serve Vermonters,” said Charlestin. “My campaign will focus on the critical issues that Vermont families face: access to good education, lower costs, and economic freedom. I’m dedicated to meeting people where they are to work together to solve problems. Far too many people are feeling unheard, unseen, and left out by our current leadership, so I’m running to give everyone a seat at the table.”
Commissioner Charlestin is a first-generation Haitian American and holds two master’s degrees. Passionate about empowering communities and using her voice for positive impact, Commissioner Charlestin envisions a future where she can serve her community and beyond. Additionally she is Founder & CEO of Conversation Compass LLC where she serves as a facilitator, moderator, and consultant. With a core mission deeply rooted in fostering understanding through compassion, Commissioner Charlestin firmly believes that meaningful change happens one conversation at a time.
