Vermont Mutual annual meeting shows historic results

Vermont Business Magazine Vermont Mutual Insurance Group recently reported on company results for 2025 at their Annual Meeting held on April 15, 2026. In 2025, Vermont Mutual Insurance Group reached several historic milestones. Among the most significant was producing a record $101 million in underwriting income and the growth of surplus by 19.2% to a record high of $1 billion. 

Board Chair, President and CEO of Vermont Mutual, Mark McDonnell, said, “Results for 2025 stand out as one of the most exceptional years in our company's history. One notable achievement was surpassing the $1 billion mark in policyholder surplus. McDonnell added, "Additionally, our agency partners favored us with over $85 million in new business, the second highest annual production in our 197-year history. Along with solid retention, we were able to produce a 5.9% increase of total written premium, bringing it to a record high of $860 million." 

In other business at the annual meeting, the following officers were re-elected by the Vermont Mutual Board of Directors:
