Interstates:
Colchester, I-89 Exit 16 Diverging Diamond Interchange – Construction activities will begin, with drainage work at night, and erosion protection and sediment control measure installation and stormwater pond excavation during the day. Sunday through Friday, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., U.S. 2/7 near the Highpoint Center entrance will be under lane reductions and shifts. Monday through Friday, from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m., U.S. 2/7 between South Park Drive and Mountain View Drive will be under lane closures. Starting mid-week, from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m., the width of the I-89 Exit 16 southbound on-ramp will be reduced, with traffic maintained. Motorists should expect significant delays and plan extra travel time or consider alternate routes.
Colchester, I-89 Exit 17 Interchange Improvements – Crews will continue constructing the Exit 17 southbound acceleration lane and northbound deceleration lane and installing traffic signals on U.S. 2. From Monday through Friday, I-89 will be reduced to a single lane in both directions near Exit 17 during off-peak hours: from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. on I-89 northbound and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on I-89 southbound. While the acceleration lane is still under construction, drivers on the new Exit 17 southbound on-ramp from U.S. 2 westbound are advised to use caution and yield to I-89 southbound traffic until there is a safe gap in traffic before merging onto I-89 southbound. To assist with merging, I-89 southbound drivers are encouraged to slow down and shift into the left travel lane north of the Exit 17 interchange. U.S. 2, between U.S. 7 and Jasper Mine Road, will experience intermittent daytime lane closures and brief periods of alternating one-way traffic controlled by flaggers between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Fairlee, I-91 Bridge Deck Replacement – Replacement of the I-91 South bridge deck over Lake Morey Road continues. I-91 traffic remains reduced to a single lane in each direction about a quarter mile before the Exit 15 interchange. A crossover that diverts southbound vehicles onto the northbound bridge around the work zone is active with a speed limit reduction to 55 mph in place.
Fairlee, I-91 South Ledge Stabilization – I-91 South at Exit 16 is open to one lane of travel within the project area. A work zone speed reduction to 55 mph is in effect. Fines are increased for speeding within the work zone. Rolling roadblocks in the northbound lanes are possible, however not anticipated.
Montpelier-Waterbury, I-89 South Paving – Crews continue with daytime shoulder work and guardrail installation; Nighttime milling and paving at the Exit interchanges. Motorists should expect delays during peak travel hours due to the southbound lane closures from Exit 10 to Exit 8. The speed limit is reduced to 55 mph within the project limits and fines will be doubled.
Royalton, I-89 Bridge Rehabilitation – On I-89 near Exit 3 in Royalton, construction activities continue related to the northbound bridge rehabilitation. Traffic is reduced to a single lane. Southbound traffic will use the travel lane, while northbound traffic crosses the median and returns north past the bridges. The Exit 3 North off-ramp uses a crossover to the new ramp. Speed limits are reduced to 55 mph in work zones and 25 mph on the Exit 3 off-ramp. Trucks will frequently enter and exit the construction zone, and flaggers will be present during construction on the southbound on-ramp to manage traffic. VT 107 has been reduced to 30 mph speed limit and a 14-foot height restriction
Swanton-Highgate, I-89 Paving and Stormwater Improvement Projects – Paving operations continue on I-89 where a temporary speed limit reduction to 55 mph will be in place across multiple work zones during working hours. Daily lane closures will be in place on I-89 North and South from Exit 20 to the Canadian border. Motorcyclists should watch for grooved and uneven surfaces on I-89 South.
State Highways:
Barre Town–Orange–Topsham, U.S. 302 Resurfacing – Next week, motorists should expect multiple single-lane closures with alternating one-way traffic along the project corridor. Significant delays are likely on Sunday 9/14 from 7 p.m. to Monday 9/15 at 6 a.m. during paving of the East Barre roundabout and its approaches. Throughout the week, crews will continue paving the wearing course, place shoulder gravel, and complete driveway aprons. Rumble strips and line striping are scheduled to begin midweek. Drivers should plan for moderate delays during daytime work and exercise caution near active work zones.
Bennington, VT 9 Bridge Replacement – Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on Main Street and Beech Street. Utility crews will be working within the roadway limits during both daytime and overnight hours.
Bennington, VT 67A Roundabout Construction – Crews will install curb, sidewalk, and streetlights along the north side of VT 67A and roadway approaches for College Drive and Matteson Road. From Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., two-way traffic will be maintained on VT 67A along the temporary southern alignment, with intermittent stoppages for construction vehicles. College Drive and Matteson Road are closed at their intersections with VT 67A, with traffic maintained via signed detour routes.
Brattleboro, U.S. 5, VT 142, VT 9, and VT 30 Resurfacing – A Class 1 night paving project is continuing paving, line striping, and utility structure work on U.S. 5 (Canal Street and Main Street), VT 30 (Linden Street), VT 9 (Western Avenue and High Street) and VT 142 (Vernon Street). From 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday night through Saturday morning, traffic will be reduced to a single lane and flaggers will control alternating traffic patterns through multiple work zones. Parking restrictions will be enforced during working hours. Pedestrians should be vigilant for sidewalk detours. Motorcyclists should watch for grooved and uneven surfaces and all motorists should watch for elevated utility structures and wet paint.
Brookfield, VT 14 Culvert Replacement – The road is open for two-way traffic, while we await line painting.
Cambridge-Johnson, VT 15 Resurfacing – Crews will clean culverts and drainage inlets on VT 15 in Johnson and Cambridge. Monday through Friday between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m., flaggers will control alternating one-way traffic on VT 15 near VT 100C, progressing west on VT 15 toward Cambridge throughout the week. Crews will be off the roadway from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on VT 15 in the Village of Johnson.
Enosburg Falls, VT 105 Sidewalk Project – Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., crews could be present on site a few days during the week. VT 105 could be reduced to one lane intermittently with flaggers for cleanup work near the intersections of VT 105 and Water Tower Road, and VT 105 and Pleasant Street.
Fairlee, Lake Morey Road/I-91 Underpass – Single-lane closures will be in place on Lake Morey Road Monday through Wednesday while crews work on removing sub-decking and forms under the I-91 bridge deck at Exit 15. Motorists should watch for alternating traffic patterns controlled by flaggers.
Hinesburg-South Burlington, VT 116 Resurfacing Project – Work between the Hinesburg/St. George line and Tilley Drive continues with traffic control present Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. allowing for one lane of alternating travel within the work areas. Motorists should expect delays.
Jericho, Browns Trace Road Town Bridge Replacement – Crews will be on-site intermittently to complete remaining project tasks. Alternating one-lane traffic may be required during work hours to complete punch list items.
Jericho, VT 15 Sidewalk Project – Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., crews are expected to be on-site a few days for project clean-up. There will be little to no impact on vehicular or pedestrian traffic. VT 15 will be two lanes for most of the week, with potential brief lane closures. Work is between the intersections of VT 15 and Jericho Market Drive and VT 15 and Park Street.
Ludlow, VT 100 and VT 103 Resurfacing – Single-lane closures will be in place on VT 103 and VT 100S for daytime driveway apron paving, clean-up, and pavement marking. Flaggers will control one-way alternating traffic patterns through daytime work zones. Motorists should watch for wet paint.
Plymouth, VT 100A Bridge Replacement – Crews will install small bridge plaque signs at both ends of the bridge and delineators at the ends of guardrail runs, substantially completing the project. Drivers should proceed with caution, as workers remain near traffic until all work is finished.
Pittsford, U.S. 7 Bridge Replacement – For this bridge replacement project at the intersection of U.S. 7 and VT 3, motorists can expect traffic control present allow for construction vehicles in and out of the work area along with lane shifts on U.S. 7.
Rockingham, U.S. 5 (Missing Link Rd.) Bridge Replacement – Bridge deck work continues. A one-lane alternating traffic pattern regulated by temporary signals will be in effect for the next several weeks. The roadway width has been reduced to 10 feet wide. Minor to no delays expected.
Searsburg, VT 9 Bridge Replacement – Paving will take place Monday and Tuesday, with flagging and alternating traffic to allow trucks access to the site. The traveling public will remain on the temporary roadway. Crews will be working inside the project limits on topsoiling, building up the shoulders, and installing the asphaltic plug joints.
Washington, VT 110 Bridge #15 Replacement Project – The contractor will continue channel work and guardrail work, weather permitting. From 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., motorists should anticipate minor traffic impacts on VT 110 in Washington as the contractor anticipates having alternating one-lane traffic patterns controlled by flaggers. Motorists are advised to use extra caution as the bridge is not paved and vehicles will be traveling on a gravel surface.
Williston, VT 2A and Industrial Ave Intersection Roadway Widening – Crews will conduct excavation, drainage installation, fine grading and paving on VT 2A between Meadowrun Road and Mountain View Road, and traffic signal work at the VT 2A and Industrial Avenue intersection. From Monday through Friday, between 6:30 a.m. and 5 p.m., turning lanes on VT 2A at the intersection with Industrial Avenue/Mountain View Road may be closed. Alternating one-way traffic controlled by flaggers will be in effect between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on VT 2A between Meadowrun Road and Meadow View Road, including the VT 2A and Industrial Avenue intersection. Traffic signal work will require intermittent full traffic stoppages. Motorists should expect significant daytime delays and plan extra travel time or consider alternate routes.
Waterbury, Stowe Street Town Bridge Replacement – Bridge work will continue as crews install guardrail, place granite curb through the project, and complete signal work at the intersection of Stowe Street and VT 100. Motorists should expect lane and shoulder closures on VT 100 northbound between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Motorists should anticipate delays along VT 100 in Waterbury and at the intersection of Stowe Street. Flaggers and a Uniformed Traffic Officer will be present to assist motorists through the work zone.
Woodstock, FAS Route 166/Pomfret Road, Town Bridge Deck Replacement – Next week, crews will grind the bridge deck to prepare the final riding surface and install the joints. Motorists should expect alternating one-way traffic controlled by flaggers while work is underway, with the road reopening to two-lane traffic at the end of each workday.
Worcester, VT 12 Bridge and Culvert Replacement – Culvert work continues as crews begin setting the new bridge bearings in anticipation of the structural steel delivery. Motorists should expect alternating one-way traffic on the temporary bridge over the North Branch of the Winooski River. Temporary traffic signals will control traffic through the work zone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Flaggers may also be present to assist motorists through the area.
Worcester, VT 12 Bridge and Culvert Replacement – Culvert work continues as crews pave the base and binder courses of the pavement and install the guardrail. Motorists should expect alternating one-way traffic on VT 12 over Hardwood Brook. Flaggers may be present to assist motorists through the area during working hours. Temporary traffic signals will control traffic through the work zone during non-working hours. Motorists are asked to use caution while traveling through the work zone as surface conditions may change.
