Lean is a learning system that develops capability and adaptability in people and processes. Lean 101 workshops have created and reignited the spark for improvement in countless organizations in Vermont and across the globe. When paired with the commitment to further engage and develop employees at all levels, Lean has proven to result in the competitive edge that attracts customers, employees and investors.

Participants will begin this workshop as a new employee in a chaotic manufacturing company. The results of the first round of simulation provide the basis on which Lean principles will be applied. Participants revisit the manufacturing environment and apply the Lean fundamentals that are taught “in the classroom." Simple financial statements prepared after each round of the simulation show the impact of the improvements on a company’s bottom line. Participants will walk away recognizing the 8 wastes and with an introduction to mindsets and methods that they can use to eliminate these wastes in their own companies.

Leading in Industry - Training and Apprenticeship Reimagined

VMEC, along with our partner, the VT Dept. of Labor (DOL), is seeking to offer VT manufacturers our newest learning opportunity, a multi-week intensive experience, geared to enhance your organization’s training, leadership and apprenticeship initiatives. While primarily designed for manufacturing leaders, this program is open and applicable to all industries.

The format for Leading in Industry - Training and Apprenticeship Reimagined will include five (5) virtual group and individual sessions, approximately two hours each, slated to begin in early November and conclude in early December. With support to work on your specific objective, program and practices, topic areas will include:

Training and Development Establishing visible, adaptable pathways through a structured training and development process. From onboarding through upskilling, the focus includes consistency and stability as employees transition in and out of roles or retire.

Strengthening Relationships Mentors and trainers with effective interpersonal and problem solving skills make a measurable difference on retention, safety, quality and productivity. They can develop these skills using consistent models and patterns, resulting in effective communication.

Improvement and Innovation Leaders in their industry drive positive change every day with foundational skills like defining the problem that needs to be solved and improving team effectiveness, managing priorities and accepting help and accountability. Good leaders are coaches that support the diverse perspectives and analysis of the facts, turning options into action with learning and better outcomes.

What will you take away from this dynamic experience?

  • A framework and resources to make your company training more effective and efficient
  • Consistent leadership tools
  • Products and learning from diverse perspectives and organizations
  • Invitations to coach and be coached

Note This opportunity, open to all VT manufacturers at only $375 pp, will be made available for registration and posted on our Training and Event page once a company or two confirms their commitment to send several company representatives - could this be YOU?!
