Vermont Business Magazine This weekly report is a list of planned construction activities that will affect traffic on state highways and interstates throughout Vermont for the week of October 27, 2025.

Interstates:
Colchester, I-89 Exit 16 Diverging Diamond Interchange – Crews will continue installing drainage infrastructure under lane reductions on U.S. 2/7 between South Park Drive and the I-89 southbound on-ramp and north of Hercules Drive from Monday through Friday, from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Daily blasting activities will require lane reductions along the west side of U.S. 2/7 between I-89 northbound on-ramp, 10-minute stoppages on U.S. 2/7 between South Park Drive and Mountain View Drive, and rolling roadblocks along I-89 between Exits 14 and 17 during daylight hours. Motorists should expect significant delays and plan extra travel time or consider alternate routes.
Colchester, I-89 Exit 17 Interchange Improvements – At night, crews will install permanent line striping and pavement markings on I-89 near Exit 17, U.S. 2, and U.S. 7. During the day, crews will continue installing traffic signal wiring and signage on U.S. 2 and U.S. 7, and conduct general clean-up throughout the project area. Sunday through Friday from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., I-89 northbound and southbound near Exit 17 will have lane reductions, and U.S. 2 between Jasper Mine Road and U.S. 7 as well as U.S. 7 between the Shell gas station and Wiley Road will have single-lane closures with alternating one-way traffic controlled by flaggers.
Fairlee, I-91 Southbound Ledge Stabilization – I-91 South at Exit 16 is open to one lane of travel within the project area. A work zone speed reduction to 55 mph is in effect. Fines are increased for speeding within the work zone. Rolling roadblocks in the northbound lanes are possible but not anticipated.
Montpelier-Waterbury, I-89 South Paving – Clean-up work is underway for the project to shut down in the winter. Motorists should expect delays Monday through Friday during peak travel hours due to southbound lane closures from Exit 10 to Exit 8. The speed limit is reduced to 55 mph within the project limits, and fines will be doubled.
Royalton, I-89 Bridge Rehabilitation – On I-89 near Exit 3 in Royalton, construction activities continue related to the northbound bridge rehabilitation. Traffic is reduced to a single lane. Southbound traffic will use the travel lane, while northbound traffic crosses the median and returns north past the bridges. The Exit 3 North off-ramp uses a crossover to the new ramp. Speed limits are reduced to 55 mph in work zones and 25 mph on the Exit 3 off-ramp. The speed limit has been reduced to 30 MPH, with a 14-foot height restriction under the bridges on VT 107. A pothole has developed on I-89 North that may require repairs during the week. Expect slow moving traffic and delays during repairs.
State Highways:
Barre Town–Orange–Topsham, U.S. 302 Resurfacing – All major work has been completed, with miscellaneous project cleanup planned for next week. Motorists should expect periodic single-lane closures with alternating one-way traffic, though any delays are expected to be minimal.
Bennington, VT 9 Bridge Replacement – Construction crews will continue installing bridge support piles within the roadway, with overhead utility relocation also occurring during daytime hours. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on Main Street with signal-controlled traffic.
Bennington, VT 67A Roundabout Construction – Crews will pave the intermediate course of asphalt on VT 67A early next week, and continue installing concrete within the peanut roundabout on VT 67A at its intersections with Matteson Road and College Drive. Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., intermittent single-lane closures with alternating one-way traffic controlled by flaggers will take place along the temporary southern alignment of VT 67A near Silk Road. College Drive and Matteson Road are closed at their intersections with VT 67A, with traffic maintained via signed detour routes until mid-November.
Brattleboro, U.S. 5, VT 142, VT 9, and VT 30 Resurfacing – A Class 1 night paving project is finishing pavement markings on VT 9 (Western Avenue and High Street) and clean-up operations throughout downtown Brattleboro on U.S. 5 and VT 30. From 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday night through Saturday morning, traffic will be reduced to a single lane of travel and flaggers will control alternating traffic patterns through multiple work zones. On Halloween, crews will adjust their start time as needed to accommodate trick or treaters. Streetside parking will be unavailable and strictly enforced during working hours throughout the Brattleboro downtown area. Motorists should watch for wet paint.
Brattleboro-Putney, U.S. 5 Resurfacing – A resurfacing project continues on U.S. 5 (Putney Road) from the intersection with Vermont Avenue north to the intersection with Noah’s Lane. From 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday night through Saturday morning, flaggers will control alternating traffic patterns as needed. Daytime work shifts are also scheduled to begin on U.S. 5 at the Brattleboro/Dummerston town line progressing north. Single-lane closures with alternating traffic patterns controlled by flaggers will be in place as needed.
Hartford, U.S. 4 Quechee Gorge Bridge Project – Crews continue work on the north side of the bridge. One-way alternating traffic controlled by a traffic signal is in place. Pedestrians must also cross on the south side of the bridge. Those walking from the gift shop lot to the southern sidewalk must cross at the visitor center crosswalk. The trail at the bridge underpass is closed through fall 2025. The adjacent trail is open via a signed detour through the visitor center.
Hinesburg-South Burlington, VT 116 Resurfacing Project – Work between the Hinesburg/St. George line and U.S. Route 2 continues with traffic control present Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. allowing for one lane of alternating travel within the work areas.
Ludlow, VT 100 and VT 103 Resurfacing – Structure clean-out will begin on VT 100S as a part of the Class 1 paving project’s finish work. Single-lane closures will be in place with flaggers controlling one-way alternating traffic patterns through the work zones. This operation will progress to the project limits of VT 100S and then continue on VT 103 until complete.
Pittsford, U.S. 7 Bridge Replacement – For this bridge replacement project at the intersection of U.S. 7 and VT 3, motorists can expect traffic control Monday through Friday to allow for construction vehicles in and out of the work area along with lane shifts on U.S. 7.
Searsburg, VT 9 Bridge Replacement – Flaggers will be present throughout the week to assist with construction activities, including hauling, seeding, and plantings near the bridge. Motorists should expect brief delays while work is underway.
Washington, VT 110 Bridge #15 Replacement Project – The contractor will continue clean-up and installation of markings and signs, weather permitting. From 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., motorists should anticipate minor traffic impacts as the contractor anticipates having alternating one-way traffic patterns controlled by flaggers.
Waterbury, Stowe Street Town Bridge Replacement – Bridge work continues as crews pave the remaining driveways, pressure wash, and apply a waterproof sealer to exposed concrete. Motorists should expect alternating one-way traffic on Stowe Street and Lincoln Street between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. Flaggers will be present to assist motorists through the work zone. On Monday 10/27, GMT and RCT will discontinue their temporary bus stops and resume service at the Park & Ride at 201 Lincoln Street.
Williston, VT 2A and Industrial Ave Intersection Roadway Widening – Crews will pave a shim course on Mountain View Road between VT 2A and Marions Way, and along newly installed curb on Mountain View Road and VT 2A between Meadowrun Road and Mountain View Road. Sidewalk installation will occur throughout the project area. Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., VT 2A between Meadowrun Road and River Cove Road may have lane reductions and shifts. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., VT 2A between Meadowrun Road and River Cove Road, and Mountain View Road between VT 2A and Marions Way will have alternating one-way traffic with flaggers. Motorists should expect daytime delays and allow extra time or consider alternate routes.
Wolcott, School Street/Town Highway 3 Bridge Replacement – Bridge work continues as crews place stone fill to armor the riverbank along VT 15. From 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., motorists should expect alternating one-way traffic on VT 15 near School Street/Town Highway 3. Flaggers will be present to assist motorists through the work zone during working hours.
Worcester, VT 12 Bridge and Culvert Replacement – Culvert work continues as crews prepare the roadway approaches for paving. Motorists should expect alternating one-way traffic on the temporary bridge over the North Branch of the Winooski River. Temporary traffic signals will control traffic through the work zone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Flaggers may also be present to assist motorists through the area.
Worcester, VT 12 Bridge and Culvert Replacement – Culvert work continues as crews install the wildlife fence, signage, and delineators on the new culvert. Motorists should expect alternating one-way traffic on VT 12 over Hardwood Brook. Flaggers may be present to assist motorists through the area during working hours. During non-working hours, the roadway is open to two lanes of traffic through the work zone.
Readsboro, VT 100 Bridge Replacement – As part of the bridge replacement over the Deerfield River, crews will finish work on the temporary bridge. Flaggers will be on site periodically throughout the week to facilitate work operations and assist in the transferring of traffic to the temporary bridge (expected mid-week).
