
The Transition will be Effective Starting November 3, 2025
Vermont Business Magazine Today, Treasurer Pieciak announced that David Scherr will join his office as Deputy Treasurer. The transition will be effective starting November 3, 2025.
“I am excited to welcome David to our office,” said Treasurer Pieciak. “He is a top-level professional with excellent judgement, impressive leadership skills, and a long track record of service to our state. I know he will strengthen our work in the Treasurer’s Office to grow Vermont’s economy and protect the financial security of workers and families.”
Pieciak continued, “I also want to thank Gavin Boyles for his years of partnership and dedicated service to the State.”
Scherr most recently served as the State Director for Congresswoman Becca Balint.
“David has been an invaluable member of our team from Day One, and I’m so grateful for all the terrific work he’s done on behalf of Vermonters,” said Congresswoman Balint. “We will all miss him, personally and professionally. But I know he is going to be such an asset to the Treasurer’s Office and will continue to do what he loves to do: serve Vermonters. We wish him the very best!”
Scherr has held several key roles throughout state government. He was the first General Counsel to the State’s Cannabis Control Board, helping establish Vermont’s legalized cannabis regulatory framework with a focus on fairness and supporting small businesses. He also spent more than four years as an Assistant Attorney General, leading the Community Justice Division.
