Poultney kicks off holiday season with two-day small business tour

Featuring Sales, Giveaways, and Grand Community Closings

VermontBiz The Poultney Area Chamber of Commerce today announced the launch of the inaugural Holiday Tour, a festive two-day event designed to support local chamber members while bringing holiday cheer to the community. The Tour kicks off on Small Business Saturday, November 29th, and continues through Sunday, November 30th. Participating businesses in downtown and East Poultney will offer special sales, unique giveaways, and family-friendly activities, with each day culminating in a special evening closing event to maximize the holiday spirit.

The Weekend Breakdown:

The Holiday Tour starts strong on Saturday with the annual Christmas Craft Fair at Poultney High School from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The entire gymnasium will be full of amazing homemade crafts, gifts, and specialty food items, offering a great place to pick up unique and special holiday items.

Throughout both days, over twenty local businesses, restaurants, and organizations have prepared special sales, treats, and activities. Shoppers can maximize their participation with the Small Business Loyalty Shopping Card: cards stamped with purchases of $100, in one store or across several are eligible for a drawing on December 20th for a $150 gift certificate at the participating business of the winner’s choosing.

The "Last Call" Closings (5:00 PM – 7:00 PM):

Each day closes with a special Last Call event from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.:

  • Saturday: The Poultney American Legion will host family-friendly festivities, including a chance to Meet Mr. Grinch, check out the firetruck, and enjoy 50-cent hot dogs and more.
  • Sunday: The final "Last Call" will be held at Analog Cycles, featuring music, raffle baskets, treats, and more.

"This Holiday Tour is more than just shopping; it’s an opportunity to strengthen the heart of our community," said Chamber President Elizabeth Ayers. "When you spend money locally on Small Business Saturday, you're directly supporting your neighbors, your schools, and your community. We’ve designed these two days, especially the fun and engaging 'Last Call' events, to give families a fantastic way to kick off the holiday season while making a tangible difference."

The Poultney Area Chamber of Commerce encourages all residents and visitors to join the Holiday Tour and make this Small Business Saturday weekend a community tradition. A complete list of participating businesses, activities, and details for both Saturday and Sunday can be found online in the Events section of the Chamber website, or stop by the chamber table at the Christmas Craft Fair. We look forward to seeing the community out in full force to shop local and celebrate the spirit of the season!
