Individuals to be honored on Friday, May 23rd at RunVermont’s Sports & Fitness Expo
Vermont Business Magazine RunVermont announces its 2025 Hall of Fame inductees, who will be formally recognized on May 23rd, 2025, at the Sports & Fitness Expo hosted by RunVermont at the DoubleTree by Hilton in South Burlington, VT. This year’s inductees are Tim Eno in the Coaches category and Keith Woodward in the Athletes of Distinction category.
The Vermont City Marathon Hall of Fame was formed in 1995 to recognize individuals who had participated in every Vermont City Marathon since its inception in 1989. In 2008, the RunVermont Board of Directors broadened the scope of the Hall of Fame by opening consideration to people whose efforts, consistent with the mission of RunVermont, have supported running in Vermont. At that time the name was changed to the RunVermont Hall of Fame.
The categories of the RunVermont Hall of Fame are:
-
Athletes of Distinction: Vermont-based athletes who have achieved a high level of success in competition at a state, regional, national, or international level.
-
Coaches: Vermont-based running coaches who have contributed to the development of runners or running events throughout Vermont and beyond.
-
Advocacy: Given to an individual in recognition of long-term, successful, and diverse contributions to events in the running or race community in Vermont. Nominees may be race directors, volunteers, event sponsors, event hosts, and others who assist with the development and growth of running events in the greater Vermont community.
-
Charter Members: The original inductees into the Vermont City Marathon Hall of Fame were so honored for their accomplishment of running in every edition of the race from its inception in 1989 until the Hall of Fame originated in 1995.
TIM ENO - COACHES AWARD
Tim has been a dedicated runner since the 1970s, beginning as a standout athlete at Bellows Falls Union High School (BFUHS) and later at Keene State College. Following his collegiate career, he became a successful road racer and returned to BFUHS as the head coach for track and field and cross country. Under his leadership, the Terriers captured 15 state titles, and he guided the girls’ cross country team to three Vermont state championships, including back-to-back victories. As an athlete, Tim was also a key member of Coach Pickering’s 1973, 1974, and 1975 state championship teams.
In recognition of his achievements, Tim was inducted into the Bellows Falls Union High School Hall of Fame in 2019 and was named Vermont Girls Track Coach of the Year by U.S. Track and Field. In 2022, he was further honored with induction into the Vermont Principals’ Association Hall of Fame as a coach and activity advisor.
KEITH WOODWARD - ATHLETE OF DISTINCTION AWARD
Raised on a farm in East Corinth, VT, Keith became an All-American at Keene State College and went on to achieve remarkable success in distance running and multisport competitions. One fellow RunVermont Hall of Famer referenced Keith as “the toughest competitor he knows in Vermont.”
Keith was inducted into the Mt. Washington Road Race Hall of Fame in 2012, having won the race and earned 15 top-10 finishes at the renowned 8-mile uphill challenge. Internationally, he represented the United States as an International Triathlon Union (ITU) Grand Master winner in duathlon and earned numerous age group victories on the global stage.
Keith has also made significant contributions as a member of the Green Mountain Athletic Association (GMAA). He was a scoring member of the U.S Track and Field (USATF) National Championship 50+ cross country team and helped the 60+ team secure a third-place finish nationally. Additionally, he was a top-10 finisher and key scorer for GMAA’s only USATF New England Open Cross Country team championship team. Known for both his fierce competitiveness and his humility, another Hall of Famer describes Keith as “a truly humble individual who is truly deserving a spot in the RunVermont Hall of Fame.”
