VHCB invests $3.6M in support of affordable housing and conservation projects throughout Vermont

Vermont Business Magazine At its March meeting, the Vermont Housing & Conservation Board (VHCB) approved funding for the conservation of natural and agricultural land and affordable housing projects around the state, as well as one historic restoration project. $1,241,500 was approved to support the conservation of 533 acres, and $2,281,178 for the creation of 6 new affordable homeownership units and 36 new multi-family rental homes. The Board also voted to invest $110,00 million in a historic preservation project.

SUMMARY OF AWARDS:

Addison County:

$400,000 for the conservation of 176 acres in Addison.

$435,000 for the conservation of 170 acres in Weybridge.

Chittenden County:

$690,000 for the development of six affordable new townhouses for homeownership in Hinesburg.

$1,591,178 for the new construction of a multi-family development in Hinesburg. This project will create 36 new apartments, 3 of which will serve households experiencing homelessness.

Lamoille County: $110,000 for the restoration and rehabilitation of the historic Wolcott School House to serve as the new home for the town’s library and historical society.

Orange County: $406,500 for the conservation of 187 acres in Williamstown, including 8 acres of wetlands.
