Vermont Business Magazine Governor Phil Scott today issued the following statement:
“The Declaration of Independence bears fifty-six signatures from individuals who came as New Yorkers and Pennsylvanians, South Carolinians and Virginians, but returned home as Americans.
“It’s an example of what’s possible when we act together.
“The Union we celebrate today has stood for 249 years
“It’s not perfect. It has been tested by war, threatened by politics, and—even today—feels as divided as many of us have ever known.
“As we enter our 250th year, it’s important to remember that there is more that unites us than divides us, and when we speak with one voice, America is an unstoppable force for good in a world that desperately needs more of it.
“I wish all Vermonters and Americans a safe and happy Independence Day..
