Agency of Agriculture, Food & Markets Enjoy a day of learning and camaraderie at the Vermont Vegetable and Berry Growers Association (VVBGA) Annual Meeting on January 28th at the DoubleTree Hotel in Burlington. The day will include presentations given, mostly by farmers, on the following topics: coping with flooding; market garden infrastructure; using the H2A program; assessing profitability; cover crops; on-farm engineering; reviving a blueberry farm; strawberry production; organic pest management; adapting to climate and market shifts; and a slide tour of farms in Korea and Japan.
There will also be a trade show with vendors of greenhouses, seeds, equipment, supplies, and more.
Pre-registration ends January 23rd. The cost is $65 for VVBGA members, or $75 for non-members. Questions can be directed to [email protected].
Last Chance to Apply for Trade Show Assistance Grants
$50,000 is available to provide Vermont agricultural, food, and forestry businesses with funds to offset the costs associated with exhibiting and selling their Vermont products at trade shows targeting out-of-state wholesale buyers.
Applicants may request between $2,000 and $5,000 to offset the costs of up to five trade shows. Eligible applicants must have at least three wholesale accounts and their product(s) must meet the Vermont Local Definition as defined in Act 129.

University of Vermont and University of New Hampshire researchers invite high tunnel growers to take a brief survey about their current practices and challenges with crop production.
Survey results will enable researchers to develop outreach programs to provide the best resources for improving nutrient and pest management.
The survey should take about 10-15 minutes to complete. Contact Cheryl Sullivan at [email protected] with questions.

Connecticut River Watershed Farmers Alliance Annual Meeting
The Connecticut River Watershed Farmers Alliance is hosting their Annual Meeting on January 15th at Billings Farm in Woodstock, Vermont.
Speakers will include: the Vermont and New Hampshire Secretaries of Agriculture, a representative from the Environmental Protection Agency, and Mike Ghia of Land for Good.
Session topics will include: improving forage quality; conservation tillage; and agricultural plastic recycling.
Lunch will be provided. Doors open at 9:30am for coffee, and all are welcome to stay for a farm tour at 2:00pm.

Tri-state Dairy Exchange Webinars
The mission of the Tri-State Dairy Team is to unite Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont in advancing dairy management through collaborative educational programs, addressing shared industry challenges, and fostering innovation across northern New England.
