Vermont Business Magazine Governor Scott today issued the following statement regarding the start of the 2025 legislative session:
“Today, the legislature will open the 2025 session. It’s something I’ve experienced many times since first elected to the Senate from Washington County in 2000. While it’s an exciting day for legislators, it’s more important than ever that Vermonters pay attention to what’s going on in the State House this session.
“It’s no secret, over the last two years, we’ve had our share of disagreements with the legislature, particularly over new taxes and fees, including a property tax increase, that’s making it harder for Vermonters to make ends meet.
“I’m looking forward to working with all 180 members of the legislature to accomplish what I hope are shared goals this year. With the balance voters provided in November, it’s my hope we can work together, across party lines, to make Vermont more affordable.
“I encourage all Vermonters to join me this year, in fighting for common sense and practical solutions.”
