Upper Valley Trails Alliance welcomes four new board members

Vermont Business Magazine The Upper Valley Trails Alliance (UVTA) is proud to welcome four new members to its Board of Directors: Kevin Donohue of Thetford, Suzanne Dudley-Schon of Hanover, Jon Hampton of Norwich, and Bob Hedges of Orford. Together, they bring diverse professional expertise, decades of nonprofit leadership experience, and a deep commitment to outdoor access and community stewardship.

Kevin Donohue grew up on Long Island before arriving at Dartmouth College to study Latin, Greek, and linguistics. During his time at Dartmouth, he was heavily involved with the Dartmouth Outing Club, serving as chair of the hiking and trail maintenance subclub. After graduating and spending a summer building privies and moving rocks as director of the student Trail Crew, Kevin joined Dartmouth Admissions as an officer, where he reads applications and supervises tour guides. Beyond his professional roles, Kevin helps organize the Norwich Contra Dance, performs in local theater productions, and can often be found scything grass or exploring Upper Valley trails on foot or skis.

Suzanne Dudley-Schon is the Founder and Principal of Oasis in the Overwhelm LLC, a life and leadership coaching practice. A summer camp alumna of the Upper Valley, Suzanne has maintained a lifelong connection to the region's natural spaces. She brings over two decades of nonprofit board experience to UVTA, having served as VP of the Montshire Corporation after six years as a trustee of the museum, and spent 24 years on the board of Waypoint (Child and Family Services). Suzanne is passionate about creating opportunities for people of all ages to build meaningful relationships with the natural world and believes that caring for our trails and forests requires all of us working together. Suzanne lives in Hanover with her husband and enjoys creative writing, yoga, and the occasional acting project.

Jon Hampton grew up hiking and camping in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains and felt immediately at home when he arrived at Dartmouth College. Since returning to the Upper Valley, he can often be found with his family exploring regional trails and swimming holes in summer, and skiing and skating in winter. Jon is a Managing Director & Partner at the Boston Consulting Group where he advises technology and industrial clients on commercial growth. Prior to BCG, he worked on Gates Foundation and USAID-funded economic development projects in East Africa and in growth equity investing. Jon holds a BA from Dartmouth College and an MBA from The Yale School of Management.

Bob Hedges is a retired Financial Services Executive who spent four decades in the industry, most recently as Chief Data Officer at Visa. A lifelong New England resident, Bob reconnected with the Upper Valley in 2000 and now calls Orford home. An accomplished mountaineer who has summited all 48 White Mountain 4,000-footers, Bob has turned his focus to climbing Mount Cube 100 times with his wife, Christie—a family project that includes their three adult children, all avid hikers themselves. Bob serves on the Orford Conservation Commission and is deeply interested in the connections between land conservation, recreational access, and economic development. He holds a BA from Dartmouth College and an MBA from MIT’s Sloan School of Management.

"We're thrilled to welcome Kevin, Suzanne, Jon, and Bob to the board," said Russell Hirschler, UVTA Executive Director. "Each brings unique professional expertise, genuine passion for trails and outdoor access, and a strong commitment to community stewardship. Their leadership will be instrumental in helping us strengthen and expand trail systems across the Upper Valley."

As UVTA continues to advance its mission of building and maintaining trails, supporting youth through programs like the High School Trail Corps, and expanding accessibility to outdoor recreation for all community members, board leadership like this is essential to shaping the future of trails in the region.
