Vermont Business Magazine The Vermont Lottery and the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL) expect Saturday’s (8/23) Powerball jackpot to hit $700 million, the largest advertised jackpot in more than a year and the 11th largest Powerball jackpot ever. During this jackpot run, more than 50 tickets have won $1 million or more, and 483 tickets have won $50,000 or more.
“It’s an exciting time,” said Vermont Lottery Director Tammy Pidgeon. “It’s not just about winning – it’s about bringing communities together in a shared moment of excitement and possibility. As the jackpot climbs, so does the collective anticipation.”
Powerball jackpot winners may choose to receive their prize as an annuity or a lump sum payment (cash option). Both advertised prize options are prior to federal and jurisdictional taxes. The overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 24.9. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million. More than half of all proceeds from the sale of a Powerball ticket remain in the jurisdiction where the ticket was sold.
Powerball drawings are held Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays at 10:59pm. Tickets are on sale at more than 600 Vermont Lottery agents statewide. For more information, please visit vtlottery.com.
