Expanding mental health services to support our community

Vermont Business Magazine The public is invited to a virtual town hall on September 10 featuring information on the Mental Health Urgent Care opening this October in Burlington.

With funding from the University of Vermont Medical Center and the Vermont Department of Mental Health, Howard Center, UVM Medical Center, Community Health Centers, and Pathways Vermont have come together to offer a therapeutic alternative to emergency department care – a welcoming mental health urgent care where individuals will be assessed in a timely manner and have access to supportive follow-up services, immediate peer support, and medical care in a trauma-informed, suicide-safe setting.

The virtual town hall will be held via Zoom on September 10 at 1:30-3:00 p.m. There will be a presentation by the project managers Cathie Buscaglia and Charlotte McCorkel (Howard Center) and Maureen Leahy and Karen Vastine (University of Vermont Medical Center).

The presenters will be joined by special guests: Dr. Rob Althoff, Chair of Psychiatry, The University of Vermont Health Network; Sandra McGuire, CEO, Howard Center; Dr. Jeff McKee, CEO, Community Health Centers; and Hilary Melton, Executive Director, Pathways Vermont

The event will be presented in a webinar format and registration is free but required. To register visit this link.

Scheduled to open on October 28, Mental Health Urgent Care will serve adults 18 and over seeking immediate support or in self-defined crisis.
