Shalom Alliance Vermont, Jewish Community, UVM Hillel Partner to Commemorate October 7

Vermont Business Magazine Shalom Alliance Vermont, in partnership with Burlington and Central Vermont synagogues and University of Vermont Hillel, are holding a community commemoration – “An Evening of Remembrance & Hope” – on the one-year anniversary of the October 7 terrorist attack by Hamas on Israel. The evening will feature music to heal our souls and inspiring speakers, and provide a time for community members and college students to mourn the murdered, hold hope for the release of the hostages, honor survivors and heroes, share personal stories, fill one another with strength and hope for our collective future, and pray for peace and safety for all.  

What: October 7 Memorial - “An Evening of Remembrance & Hope” 

When: Monday, October 7, 6:00 pm

  • 6:00 pm - Community Service at Ohavi Zedek Synagogue, 188 North Prospect Street

    • Rabbi Aaron Philmus, Ohavi Zedek Synagogue

    • Cantor Jessica Silverberg, Ohavi Zedek Synagogue

    • Rabbi David Edleson, Temple Sinai

    • Rabbi Eliyahu Junik, Chabad

    • Rabbi David Fainsilber, Jewish Community of Greater Stowe Area

  • 7:00 pm - Silent Walk (6/10 of a mile) to University of Vermont (UVM) campus

  • 7:30 pm - Vigil with UVM Hillel community, Memorial Lounge, Waterman Building, 85 South Prospect Street
