Ensures Continued Commitment to Honoring Event Contracts
Vermont Business Magazine After 18 years of dedication to preserving the historic Old Lantern Barn, Lisa and Roland Gaujac, current owners of the renowned venue in Charlotte, have announced their decision to retire and transition ownership of the property. The couple, who has lovingly maintained the barn’s legacy, are seeking new owners to carry on its rich history while continuing to run the adjacent Old Lantern Inn.
Located on 6.5 picturesque acres, the Old Lantern Barn, with its roots dating back to the 1960s as one of Vermont’s premier music venues, has hosted over 2,500 weddings, concerts and events, including performances by legendary artists like Taj Mahal, Little Feat, Bruce Cockburn and Brian Setzer from Stray Cats. The property is now available for sale, marking an exciting new chapter for the venue.
"We have cherished our time at the Old Lantern Barn, but it’s time to pass the torch to a new generation," said Lisa. "While we are retiring from managing the barn, we will remain close by, continuing to run the Old Lantern Inn and supporting the new owners in maintaining the venue’s legacy."
Roland and Lisa also reassured current clients with booked events in 2025, emphasizing that all contracts will be honored and that the transition will be seamless. "Our priority is ensuring that every couple’s special day is just as they imagined," she added. "We are working closely with the new owners to guarantee continuity and uphold the high standards that our clients have come to expect."
As stewards of the Old Lantern Barn’s rich history, the couple has accumulated detailed records of the venue’s journey from its days as a vibrant music hall to its evolution as a premier event space. With a legacy spanning six decades, the property remains one of Vermont’s most beloved venues for weddings, events, and celebrations.
While Roland and Lisa are stepping back, they will continue to stay involved in the community through the Old Lantern Inn, a charming 8-room guesthouse situated on the adjacent 3-acre parcel of land. The couple is eager to work alongside the future owners of the barn to ensure the historic property continues to thrive.
