Advisory body will help shape the future of public media in Vermont
Vermont Business Magazine Vermont Public is accepting applications for its next Community Forum, a volunteer group that provides input to the organization about its programming and content, and serves as an important link between Vermont Public and the communities it serves.
The Forum is composed of 20-40 community members representing different professions, geographic regions, individual needs and interests of the communities that Vermont Public serves. It reflects as broadly as possible the demographic, geographic, cultural, economic and social diversity of the region.
Members will learn about public media, meet staff members, and have regular communication with the station about programming and service. They’ll have the opportunity to discuss the goals of public media with other members of the Forum. Members also serve as ambassadors for Vermont Public within their communities.
The Community Forum meets as a full group biannually, with regular small group meetings during the interim period. Members serve in three-year terms, with the option of re-applying for additional terms.
“Vermont Public’s engagement efforts would not be possible without the Community Forum,” said Kari Anderson, senior vice president for audience & community. “This diverse group of volunteers acts as the organization's eyes and ears in local communities, and plays an integral role in advising staff and the Board of Directors on how Vermont Public is meeting their informational, educational, and cultural needs.”
Community members interested in serving on Vermont Public’s Community Forum can apply online or call 802-654-3912 to request a paper application. Applications are due by December 3. More information about the Community Forum can be found at vermontpublic.org.
