Vermont Business Magazine The Vermont Agency of Education released the first “topical report” from its Listen and Learn Tour. The Vermont Education Funding Report provides an explanation of how Vermont funds schools and how the system compares to other states. The report offers a plain language explanation of Vermont’s complex funding system and situates Vermont within the national context to assess the benefits and drawbacks of the current approach.
“I hope the report will help promote a shared understanding of Vermont’s education funding system and open meaningful dialogue on this complex topic.” said Interim Secretary of Education Zoie Saunders. “The report is an important first step in helping us identify strengths and opportunities to improve our education system, so we can deliver a world-class education from cradle to career at a rate Vermonters can afford.”
The full, 37-page report is available on the Agency’s website.
Other upcoming reports include additional topical reports and the rerelease of the State Profile Report. Since the initial release of the State Profile Report in August, the Agency has worked closely with education leaders to gather feedback on how to best explain the data and correct any potential inconsistencies in the system over multiple years.
Through this process the Agency is improving data access and quality to tell a clearer story about the statewide education system. More information on the rerelease of the State Profile Report can be found on the Agency’s website under “reporting.”
