Killington World Cup Foundation paves the way for local youth programs

Vermont Business Magazine In anticipation of the 2024 Killington World Cup, the Killington World Cup Foundation (KWCF) will be honoring four worthy recipients with grants which will allow each organization to increase access to winter sports for youth and individuals in the Northeast, creating more lifelong winter sports participants. This year’s grantees reflect KWCF’s dedication to promoting ski racing and supporting athletes at the highest level.

The 2024 grantees are:

  • Abenaki Outing Club: The new grantee based in Wolfeboro, NH, provides a high level of youth outdoor winter and summer sports instruction and competition with an emphasis on affordability and accessibility while creating a lifelong passion for outdoor recreation.
  • Beech Mountain in North Carolina: The new grantee based in Avery County, one of the most economically disadvantaged counties in North Carolina, aims to develop a ski program where every 5th grader in Avery County has a chance to learn to ski/snowboard and develop the skills to compete for free.
  • Keene Youth Commission: The mission of this new grantee based in Keene, NY, is to increase access to its Alpine Ski program, making it more available and equitable for local youth in the Town of Keene and students of Keene Central School, eliminating the cost of clothing and gear which often creates barriers for children and their families.
  • Share Winter Foundation: Located locally in Burlington, VT, Share Winter Foundation aims to continue its successful program with the Association of Africans Living in Vermont (“AALV”) which supports 90 youth skiers and riders, primarily covering the cost of outerwear to ensure that participating youth safely and comfortably enjoy their time on the mountain.
