NEW! Our Seasonal Program

Many people within our service area may only stay in Vermont for part of the year to enjoy some relaxation and natural beauty. We’ve developed some options for customers that are not year-round residents to choose from:

  • Keep your service as is, year-round. This would allow you to utilize your smart home and security devices like cameras, security systems, temperature and humidity monitors, etc). This also contributes directly to expanding our network to reach your unserved and underserved neighbors in the NEK, and cover the significant initial costs we incur to connect each address.
  • Choose a less expensive service package for the months you will not be living in the NEK. This would also allow you to utilize your remote monitoring devices. You will be asked to choose a date to have your regular, faster service package automatically resumed.
  • Pause your service for up to six months for the time you will be out of town.  At the time you resume service, you’ll pay a one-time fee of $99*. When you pause your service, you can set the date when you want your service to automatically resume.
  • Pay the full cost of installation up front ($2,000) and disconnect and reconnect once annually with no additional fees. With this choice you will also receive a monthly discount of $10 off your service for 48 months. Your service needs a minimum of 3 months of consecutive service before you pause service.
  • Disconnect your service (at this time you may be required to return your equipment). Upon reinstatement of your service, there will be a reconnect fee of $200 if the time is shorter than 6 months, or a reconnect fee of $300 if the time is longer than 6 months.

We hope that by providing options, our customers can make the choice that works best for them. As “summer folks” plan their trip back to Vermont, you can set up service by going to get.nekbroadband.org and following the prompts.

Town Meeting Day

Thanks for coming out for Town Meeting Day! It was so great to see our neighbors from across the Kingdom. We were able to visit many towns and provide updates on our service rollout plans.

NEK Broadband on the Move!

NEK Broadband just bought our first truck! This is an exciting development that supports our ability to bring broadband to our neighbors.

Job Training in the NEK

By providing access to high-quality training, mentorship, and employment opportunities, NEK Broadband believes we can help people to stay in the Kingdom with work opportunities that pay a living wage.To help achieve this goal, we are partnered with North Country Career Center to provide a comprehensive 3-week training program to become an entry level Broadband Network Construction Technician. The course will include basic rigging, fiber optics essentials, bucket truck operations, pole climbing, OSHA training, first aid with CPR and AED, flagging, leadership and communication. By completing this training, students will have the well-rounded knowledge to be a successful, cross-functional technician. Training will start May 8th.

This program is open to everyone and we encourage women, BIPOC individuals, and members of the LGBTQ+ community to apply.
