Vermont Business Magazine Community Health in Rutland, the largest of the 12 federally qualified health centers (FQHC) in Vermont, is celebrating National Health Center Week August 4-10. On August 7th, our staff will be showing patients in all of our medical clinics how to connect with their providers through our Patient Portal. It's one of the many services offered to bring healthcare clairty, equity and services to our patients so they can remotely access their healthcare information.
The theme of National Health Center Week, “Powering Communities Through Caring Connections,” highlights the essential role community health centers like Community Health play in improving public health. Community Health provides medical, dental, behavioral health, pediatric, Express Care and pharmacy services to everyone regardless of their ability to pay.
“We have been very successful over 20 years because we’ve had a great leadership team that is invested in the community with a mission that each and every person who comes in should get the absolute best care that we are capable of delivering,” said Community Health CEO Mike Gardner. “As a FQHC we can provide sliding fees and discounted care. In 2023, we provided about three quarters of a million dollars of free care and took care of 47,000 patients.” (See our 2023 Annual Report for details.)
With a mission to “provide quality and collaborative care that is accessible to all people in order to live their best lives and build stronger communities,” Community Health supports a workplace of over 450 skilled healthcare professionals who bring the highest quality services to a mostly rural community. Our job training and workplace programs provide medical, behavioral health and dental career development opportunities.
Do You Have Portal Power?

- View test results
- Print a medical record
- Notify a provider of changes in insurance or contact information
