Northeastern Vermont Development Association It is likely that those of you reading this have been affected by the recent storm and we want you to know that the team at NVDA is here to assist your municipality with recovery needs in the coming days / weeks and months.
Municipal Officials wishing to report damage to public infrastructure have likely already heard from NVDA's Bruce Melendy, Doug Morton, or Liam Abbate. They have been collecting information on damage to the physical infrastructure in your community.
While most towns have reported initial damages, please contact any one of them if there is more damage to report:
Bruce (Emergency Management Specialist) [email protected]
Doug (Sr. Transportation Planner) [email protected]
Liam (Transportation Planner) [email protected]
Businesses and Non-Profit Organizations wishing to report business damage, after first ensuring that employees and customers are safe, should report to Vermont 211. This is important as the State of Vermont will pursue a federal disaster declaration which, if granted, would unlock resources for repairing and rebuilding. For that state application to be a success, the state needs your help.
Please document your damage and report it to Vermont 211. The State of Vermont will use this data to make its case to the federal government for a disaster declaration. You can help by:
- Taking pictures, videos, and notes before you start cleaning up.
- Taking pictures, videos, and notes during cleanup.
- Saving receipts to keep track of your expenses.
- Reporting damage, even if you are not submitting an insurance claim, using the "Resident Form" or "Business Form." You can also call 211 to report damage, but online reporting is preferred.
This data is only being used to help the state assess the extent of the damage as it applies for a federal disaster declaration.
Beginning Monday, July 15th NVDA staff will begin direct, in-person outreach to businesses in our area, including those in Lyndon, Hardwick, and St. Johnsbury. David Snedeker, Annie McLean, and Kyle Dwyer will be available to meet with your business, gather damage information, and collect contact information so that businesses can be connected with available recovery resources going forward.
If you would like to meet with NVDA, please contact:
Dave (NVDA Director) [email protected]
Annie (Community & Economic Specialist) [email protected]
Kyle (Regional Planner) [email protected]
Together, we'll make it through all of this.
Regards, Dave
