Vermont Catholic Community Foundation issues $30K in grants

Vermont Business Magazine The Vermont Catholic Community Foundation distributed $30,000 in a recent round of grants to organizations that help people in need throughout the state.

Grants were awarded to:
+ Our Lady’s Kitchen, Bethel and Randolph ($3,000)
+ St. Mark’s meal program, Burlington ($3,000)
+ Catholic Migrant Ministry of Addison County ($3,000)
+ St. John the Baptist Community Dinners, Enosburg Falls ($1,500)
+ Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary/St. Louis Charity Fund, Swanton and Highgate Center, ($3,000)
+ Stowe Emergency Aid Fund ($1,000)
+ St. Brigid’s Kitchen and Pantry, Brattleboro ($3,000)
+ St. Peter’s Shut-in Meals, Vergennes ($1,500)
+ University of Vermont Catholic Center Rally Cat Cupboard ($2,000)
+ St. Augustine Soup Kitchen, Montpelier ($3,000)
+ St. Monica Food Shelf, Barre ($3,000)
+ Mater Dei Food Shelf, Newport ($3,000)

"All of our 63 parish provide food assistance and other outreach to those on the margins," said Ellen Kane, executive director of the foundation. "And that is why it was so important for the foundation to distribute grants to these ministries at a time where the needs are growing, especially families living paycheck to paycheck who just cannot make ends meet with the rising cost of basic needs."

The mission of the Vermont Catholic Community Foundation is to support and serve apostolic activities of the Roman Catholic Church and make grants to nonprofit organizations in the statewide Diocese of Burlington that reflect the compassion of Christ in service to the community.
