Vermont Business Magazine The Norwich University Board of Trustees has announced the candidacy of retired Marine Corps Lt. Gen. John Broadmeadow '83 to serve as the school's 25th president. He was also a semifinalist in the last presidential search, launched in 2019.

Lieutenant General John Broadmeadow, USMC (Retired), NU Class of 1983

Over the next week, Broadmeadow will participate in a series of town hall meetings with faculty, staff, students, academic leadership, athletics and other university communities. These meetings are intended to give constituents a voice in the presidential appointment process and recommend goals for the next president.

The meetings will also provide Broadmeadow the opportunity to talk with constituents, answer their questions directly and listen to their concerns and feedback. After the meetings have concluded, participants will be invited to provide feedback to the trustees to review at their next meeting, scheduled for Jan. 18-20.

After reflecting on this feedback and other considerations, the board will make a final decision regarding Broadmeadow’s candidacy. Broadmeadow’s full biography and the schedule of events are forthcoming.

If successful, Broadmeadow would succeed Mark Anarumo, who resigned Jan. 4. Anarumo had been under investigation for violating "core guiding values and university policy."
