Vermont Agency of Agriculture Food & Markets Are you an early childhood educator or after school program looking for creative ways to support local farms and promote food access or nutrition education for the children and families you serve?
The VAAFM Farm to School and Early Childhood Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Grant will partially reimburse childcare providers or after school programs for CSA shares purchased from Vermont farms or farm/producer collaboratives.
The maximum grant award for this funding opportunity is $1,500. CSA Grants will reimburse programs for 65-80% of the cost of a summer and/or fall CSA share.
Programs can use local food purchased with a CSA Grant in the following ways:
- Served in meals and snacks
- Sent home with children and/or families
- Used in cooking activities with children and/or families

The Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food & Markets and University of Vermont Extension are excited to announce registration is open for the Annual Produce Safety Alliance Grower Training.
This training is for all growers, gleaners, farmworkers, and those supporting farms to cover produce safety topics under the FDA Produce Safety Rule.
To receive your certificate, you must attend all three parts of the training; March 25th online, March 26th in Berlin, and March 28th online.
Registration is required. The cost of the training (all three days) is $25.

A reminder that Meat and Produce Agriculture Development Grants are available through the Agency of Agriculture, Food & Markets.
For-profit produce, livestock, and slaughter operations are eligible. Eligible projects include infrastructure improvements, equipment and material upgrades, safety and quality improvements, staff and management training, and improved operations management.
Awards range from $30,000-$350,000. There is no match requirement.

The next listening session hosted by the Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food & Markets will take place on Thursday, February 22nd via Zoom from 6:30-8pm. The session will be a part of an existing Local Working Group hosted by the White River Natural Resources Conservation District.

Orange and Windsor Counties virtual session: Feb. 22nd
Every Tuesday from February 13th to March 26th, UVM Extension and other partners will guide business owners and managers through developing their business plan using the free AgPlan template.
Each week will cover a different section of the process, with the goal of a draft business plan by the end of March.
The trainings and the AgPlan template are free to participants thanks to funding from the Northeast Extension Risk Management Education Center and the Center for Farm Financial Management.
