The Brattleboro Ski Hill was one of the first ski areas in Vermont to offer lift service.
Over 23 years before Stratton Mountain opened, busloads of Connecticut and New York skiers traveled to Brattleboro. Thousands of winter sports enthusiasts lined up each weekend, waiting to get whisked up the 1,100-foot rope tow.
Today, Stratton is helping to preserve the soul of skiing by investing in the success of the Brattleboro Ski Hill.
"As New England winters change, mountains big and small are becoming more reliant on snowmaking. This week, Stratton generously loaned us two high-efficiency HKD snow guns to expand our snowmaking capacity," shared Vice President of the Board Todd Fahey.
"The brand-new HKD snow guns are the type of equipment a small operation like ours can only dream of. We're incredibly grateful to Stratton for recognizing the important role community ski hills continue to play in keeping this sport accessible."
Thanks to its new partnership with Stratton, the Brattleboro Ski Hill will open for the season on Tuesday, December 31st. In celebration of opening day, Stratton is covering the cost of lift tickets for the first 50 skiers and riders.
"As the cost of the sport continues to increase, it's critical for us to ensure skiing and riding remains a sport for the masses, not the classes. Our $5 lift ticket and $75 season pass help ensure everyone can fall in love with the mountains," reflected Fahey.
From snowmaking to grooming, selling hot cocoa, and loading the t-bar, the Brattleboro Ski Hill is a 100% volunteer-run organization. Fueled by a shared passion for skiing and riding, the transformation of Living Memorial Park into a vibrant winter playground wouldn't be possible without the donors and partners who understand how important access to the outdoors is for our community.
"We're ecstatic to be able to provide snowmaking support for such an important community centerpiece in our backyard. The Brattleboro Ski Hill is instrumental in growing the ski and ride community in Vermont and keeping those first days on the hill and nights of riding after school accessible to all ages. We're proud of the work their snowmaking team has put in with Stratton's HKD equipment, and I look forward to taking a few runs myself at the Ski Hill this winter," shared Craig Panarisi, Vice President of Mountain Operations at Stratton.
