Vermont Business Magazine As the Northeast Kingdom continues to recover from the devastation caused by last month’s flooding, two local organizations are partnering to make a difference. Passumpsic Bank has donated $10,000 to the KURRVE (Kingdom United Resilience & Recovery Effort) flood relief program, which Northeast Kingdom Human Services serves as the fiscal agent for.
KURRVE is a collaboration of organizations working together with a mission to provide services to individuals and families affected by the multiple flooding disasters in Caledonia, Essex and Orleans counties. The group has been working tirelessly since two bouts of disastrous flooding happened within the span of three weeks on July 10 and July 30.
In the wake of these events, Jim Kisch, President and CEO of Passumpsic Bank, began an outreach effort to local nonprofits assisting with flood relief. Kisch sought ways for Passumpsic Bank to support the residences and businesses affected as they began the recovery process.
“At times like this, we as an organization have to do everything we can to be great partners,” Kisch said. “We take pride in serving our region as a community bank, so we embrace our responsibility to serve our neighbors in need when they need it most. While these natural disasters are unpredictable, what is predictable is that when times are tough, the people and businesses of this region will rally, support each other, and overcome adversity. And we honor and humbly appreciate organizations like KURRVE that serve on the front lines of our communities’ recovery.”
Kelsey Stavseth, Executive Director of Northeast Kingdom Human Services, is excited to partner with Passumpsic Bank as the effort to help communities recover from the devastating flooding continues.
“We are so grateful to Passumpsic Bank for their donation. It demonstrates that as a local community bank, they truly care about supporting people in need. Getting funding and resources so quickly is one of the best things we can do to support folks impacted by the floods, as there are so many immediate needs for assistance. More long-term funding and support will come from other sources, but having money to use, right now, is invaluable. This money will make a difference and we are so appreciative to Passumpsic Bank.”
