Vermont Business Magazine An awards ceremony and reception presented by VermontBiz and KeyBank was held Tuesday, September 12th, at the Echo, Leahy Center for Lake Champlain. John Boutin, Publisher, VermontBiz; Joseph McGowan, President, KeyBank Vermont; and Secretary of Commerce and Community Development Lindsay Kurrle were on hand to present the awards. The winners, their employees and guests were entertained by comedian and ventriloquist Al Getler during the celebration.
About the Growth Awards
Since 1987 VermontBiz has published each January the Vermont 100+, an annual ranking of Vermont’s largest local businesses based on annual revenues. From this data, VermontBiz and KeyBank developed the Vermont Growth Awards to honor the fastest growing companies over the past five years.
The companies being recognized are not judged for their accomplishments; they are recognized by looking at the data that VermontBiz accumulated when we put together our Vermont 100+ list. The list is based on a survey of annual revenues of Vermont-based companies. We also analyze the fastest growing companies over five, ten, fifteen, twenty, twenty-five, thirty years and thirty five years.
Seven new companies were added to the list this year: Vermont Construction, Lewis Creek Builders, Patrick Leahy Burlington International Airport, Twincraft Skincare, Lyndon Furniture, Hallam-ICS and Eight oh Two Marketing.
Chroma has been on the list for several years and with their subsidiary 89 North, they had a combined growth rate of over 266%. The growth rate for all the companies honored Tuesday night ranged from 69% up to 1400%.
