Montpelier Rebounding

With the immediate aftermath of the storm response winding down, the Department of Economic Development (DED) wants to recognize how far some have come.

Above are photos of Althea’s Attic Boutique on State Street in Montpelier.  The top one was taken in late August.  The bottom one was taken Monday, just seven weeks later.

Below you see Onion River Outdoors in July soon after the water receded leaving their Langdon Street store destroyed. Fourteen weeks later, they are working feverishly to open at their new and larger location on Main Street.

As DED resumes its everyday economic development efforts, the team will continue to do its best to support all businesses and nonprofits as they meet the challenges posed by the summer storms. DED will also examine what the business community needs in the short and long term, as we all contemplate another disaster we hope never comes.
