VITL welcomes Emma Harrigan as Chair of the Board of Directors

As the organization’s new Board Chair, Harrigan will help VITL continue to advance health data sharing in Vermont

Vermont Business Magazine VITL has announced the appointment of Emma Harrigan as the Chair of its Board of Directors. Harrigan brings extensive expertise in health care policy, quality improvement, and data systems to this role.  

Emma Harrigan succeeds Richard Elmore in this role. Elmore actively served on the VITL Board since 2015. VITL would like to express deep gratitude to Elmore for his crucial contributions to VITL’s work, and his support of the VITL team.  

Harrigan is Vice President of Policy at the Vermont Association of Hospitals and Health Systems (VAHHS)

Harrigan is Vice President of Policy at the Vermont Association of Hospitals and Health Systems (VAHHS). In this capacity, she provides leadership on mental health policy, quality initiatives, systems design, member development, emergency preparedness, and data analysis for hospitals and health systems across Vermont. 

Harrigan is recognized as a strategic advocate for data utilization and performance accountability, particularly in the context of mental health care.

Shawn Burroughs will continue to serve on the Executive Committee as Vice Chair, along with Jessa Barnard as Board Secretary, and Debra Royce as Board Treasurer.  

“I’m honored to take on the role of Chair of the VITL Board of Directors,” Harrigan commented. “I see the benefit of VITL’s data to hospitals and other providers in Vermont, and I’m pleased to work with Beth and the Board of Directors to support this important work.”
