The Vermont Institute of Natural Science presents A Forest of Lights

Vermont Institute of Natural Science With shorter days, the Vermont Institute of Natural Science announces that we will be open for our winter hours, November 1, 2023 through April 1, 2024. We will be open daily from 10 AM to 4 PM, and will be closed on November 23, Thanksgiving Day and December 25, Christmas Day. Winter is a special and beautiful time on the VINS Nature Center grounds. 

A Forest of Lights will be opening on Friday, November 24, 2023 at 5:00 – 7:00 PM! Now our second year we are sure to offer a magical experience for all.

As thousands of lights transform VINS into an enchanted realm. Experience the VINS Forest Canopy Walk as you take in the lights of the season. New additions this year include a twinkling Snowflake Tunnel, the Blue & White Icicle Tower, and the Fairy Lighting Hideaway.

We are delighted to welcome you back or for your first visit. This enchanting exhibit promises to be a very special experience and is a great time to make memories with family and friends.

After your walk through, cozy up by the campfire and enjoy hot chocolate and delightful snacks that are available for purchase. The Forest of Lights will be open on specific evenings from November 24 through January 3.

We invite all to visit us in Quechee to explore our Forest Canopy Walk and discover the amazing diversity of mammals and birds. Also, explore our Outdoor Nature Playscape, a natural place for kids with elements for creative play, fun for all ages.

The VINS Nature Center is open daily from 10 am to 5 pm. All activities are included in admission. Regular admission pricing is as follows: adults $19.00; seniors (62+), students and veterans $18.00; youth $16.00; and free for members and for children three and under. All ticket purchases may be applied toward the purchase of VINS membership. We offer $5-per-person admission for EBT and Medicaid cardholders (ID is required). Our Nature Store is open for in-person shopping, and we invite guests to shop anytime at our Nature Store.

We request our guests to purchase tickets on our website prior to arrival. Please note that while service dogs are always welcome at the VINS Nature Center, all other pets must remain at home, and may not be left in a car in the parking lot.
