Cannatrol raises $1.5M in funding to expand cannabis post-harvest technology

Patented Vaportrol Technology generates high-quality cannabis buds by maximizing potency, preserving terpenes and increasing yields

Vermont Business Magazine VT Dry & Cure Technologies, the makers of Cannatrol, a Vermont-based provider of innovative cannabis drying, curing and storage technology, has announced a $1.5 million seed funding round led by the Vermont Center for Emerging Technologies (VCET) and The Dudley Fund. Cannatrol’s patented Vaportrol Technology enables its dry, cure and storage systems to maximize potency, preserve terpenes, increase yields and produce superior cannabis buds, while also helping cultivators reduce labor.

“Cannabis experts across the country - from commercial cultivators to home grow enthusiasts – are utilizing Cannatrol to elevate the cannabis they produce and increase profitability,” said Jane Sandelman, CEO of VT Dry & Cure. “This funding will support expanding our sales and marketing efforts and introduce our patented Vaportrol Technology to more cultivators of all sizes. Ultimately, we are bringing cannabis consumers the highest-quality products.”

Much focus has been placed on genetics, strains and cultivation methods while discussing cannabis flower, but Cannatrol understands that effective drying, curing and storage are key to producing high quality products and driving profitability. Leading brands such as In Good Health, Elevate Missouri, and Nimbus Cannabis already leverage Cannatrol to gain full control of the post-harvest process.

“Vermont Center for Emerging Technologies (VCET) has directly assisted over 3,000 entrepreneurs, makers, doers and innovators. We were inspired by how the VT Dry & Cure team, innovative technology and manufacturing operation are making positive impacts in rural Vermont and beyond,” said Samantha Roach-Gerber of VCET. “We look forward to seeing what Cannatrol can achieve with this investment from the VCET-managed Vermont Seed Capital Fund.”

"The Dudley Fund is committed to helping Vermont-based companies scale their businesses and advance our growing economy,” said John Antonucci of The Dudley Fund. “We're excited to partner with Jane and David as they grow their business, support local agriculture, create local jobs, and bring their proprietary dry and cure technology to the cannabis industry and beyond."

Due to rapid growth happening for the industry across the nation and an exponential amount of cannabis being cultivated for sale or processing, there is a strong demand for technology tailored specifically to the delicate drying, curing and storage processes. VT Dry & Cure Technologies is uniquely equipped to fill this gap for operators of all sizes, including home growers, mass producers and mid-size cannabis companies. Thanks to its experience applying this technology to the meat and cheese industries for the last 15 years, the company is positioned for huge growth in the cannabis industry.
