Vermont Business Magazine The Seventh Annual Vermont Beardies Finals, which benefits Make-A-Wish Vermont, took place over the weekend at the Burlington Beer Company's taproom. Vermont's favorite fuzzy fundraiser raised $100,000 to grant wishes for Vermont's children with life-threatening medical conditions.
"We are thrilled with the success of this year's Vermont Beardies competition," said James Hathaway, CEO of Make-A-Wish Vermont. "The competition will help Make-A-Wish grant ten wishes to Vermont's children."
The Vermont Beardies competition is a 6-week online fundraiser where Beardos from across Vermont put their magnificent manes on display to support Make-A-Wish® Vermont. The fundraiser culminates at the finals competition, where the Make-A-Wish® Vermont family supports the top 25 fundraisers as they put their beards and axe-throwing talents on display for a chance to win the coveted Best Beard in Vermont award. Wish Kids Tobias, Maureen, and Kelly judged this year's finals competition.
The winners of this year's competition were Gordie Turner, who took home the title of Best Beard in Vermont and Best Fundraiser. Greg Kieslich won Best Dressed Beard, while Brendon Kelly was crowned Best Freestyle Beard. Pappie Fortin was awarded Best Backwoods Beard, and Seaway Car Wash won Best Fundraising Team.
