Canada
I-89 Highgate Springs – Travelers to Quebec are advised that Route 133 on the Canadian side of the border is closed between Champlain Road in Saint-Armand and Morgan Road in Pike River until approximately 07/15 for construction of an overpass. A local detour route is in place for motorists that need to travel to/through communities on the Route 133 route. Oversize and overweight vehicles may NOT use the detour and are strongly advised to seek alternate routes, use other points of entry, and avoid restricted routes.
Interstates
I-89 Colchester – Motorists should expect to encounter rolling roadblocks on I-89 between Exits 14 and 17 on weekdays between 6:00 a.m.-7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. to facilitate blasting operations for the Exit 16 Diverging Diamond Interchange project.
I-89 Richmond – Travelers should expect shoulder closures on I-89 southbound as crews work on a bridge replacement project on U.S. 2 over the interstate.
I-89 White River Junction – Our partners at NHDOT are working on a multi-year bridge replacement project on I-89 over the Connecticut River. Motorists should expect daily lane closures and speed reductions over the northbound and southbound bridges.
I-91 Barton-Derby – Daily, single lane closures are scheduled for I-91 in both directions from Exit 26 in Barton to the Derby town line for multiple work zones as a paving project continues. Motorists should use caution on milled pavement surfaces. A speed limit reduction to 55 mph through the work zone will be in place.
I-91 Bradford – Preventative maintenance repairs to multiple bridges north of Exit 16 are ongoing and permanent, single lane closures with a speed limit reduction to 55 mph are in place.
I-91 Fairlee-St. Johnsbury – Preventative maintenance repairs to bridges require multiple permanent work zones along I-91 in both directions near Exit 17 in Newbury and in the southbound lanes near Exit 20 in St. Johnsbury. In addition, the St. Johnsbury Exit 20 southbound on ramp has been closed and a signed detour is in place.
A temporary crossover for northbound traffic has been implemented at Exit 15 in Fairlee as they work to complete a full deck replacement on the northbound bridge over Lake Morey Road. Lane width and speed limit reductions are currently in effect for all of these work zones.
I-91 Lyndon-Barton – Travelers can expect grooved pavement, uneven lanes, and daily lane closures in both travel directions in the vicinity of active construction between Exits 23 and 25 from Monday to Friday during daytime construction hours (6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.). Speed is reduced to 55 mph in the work zone.
I-91 Westminster – A bridge deck replacement project over VT 121 is underway. Interstate 91 northbound and southbound have been reduced to one lane of travel across the bridges, and an alternating one-way traffic pattern regulated with temporary signals is in effect on VT 121 underneath the bridges. A speed reduction to 55 mph is in place within the project area on I-91. Fines are doubled for speeding within the construction zone.
I-91 Westminster-Springfield – A resurfacing project continues along I-91. Motorists can expect lane closures on I-91 northbound between Exit 5 and Exit 8.
Around the State
Alburgh – A deck replacement project is underway on the Mother's Bridge on U.S. 2 over Lake Champlain between North Hero Island and Alburgh. A lane closure is in effect regulated by temporary signals and will be in place throughout the summer and fall. In addition to signals, vehicular traffic through the bridge site should expect periods of stopped traffic throughout the week. A width restriction (12-foot travel lane) is in place. Minor delays should be anticipated.
Barre City – A roadway improvement project is underway at the intersection of VT 14/Maple Avenue and Merchant Street. Motorists can expect short to moderate delays on VT 14/Maple Avenue with a single lane closure with alternating one-way traffic. Flaggers will be present to assist motorists through the work zone.
Bennington-Pownal – Work on VT 279 will consist of shoulder drainage repair, milling, line striping, and crack sealing. The crew working shoulders and cleaning ditches will continue its work on U.S. 7 between Bennington village/Vermont border. A lane closure with alternating traffic will be in effect.
Berlin – A bridge replacement project continues along U.S. 302. Motorists will experience minimal traffic impacts, but flaggers will be utilized to assist motorists through the work zone as needed.
Brattleboro-Hinsdale – A 90-day closure of VT 142 from the intersection of Royal Road north to 28 Vernon Street is in effect for roadway approach work for a bridge project. Flaggers will continue to be in place at both ends of the closure to assist construction vehicles and local traffic. The detour route from VT 142 is up Cotton Mill Hill Road where separate signed detours are in place for cars and trucks. A turnaround has been constructed on VT 142 to facilitate the turn onto Cotton Mill Hill Road and motorists should watch for turning vehicles and reduce speed in this area.
Brattleboro-Newfane – A 10-mile roadway reclaim project is progressing along VT 30 from Cedar Street in Brattleboro to Newfane. Multiple operations are underway with alternating one-way traffic in effect at several locations along the project. Please anticipate multiple stoppages. Varying surface conditions require motorists to slow down and exercise caution. Delays will occur. A speed reduction to 40 mph is in effect.
Burlington – A roadway project continues along U.S. 7 (Shelburne Road, Shelburne Street, South Willard Street) to the intersection with U.S. 2, and Alt. U.S. 7 (North/South Winooski Ave, St. Paul Street) to the intersection with Riverside Avenue. Nighttime work hours are 7:00 p.m.-6:00 a.m. Sunday through Thursday. Expect delays in the vicinity of active operations. Parking restrictions will be in effect at various times. Please observe all posted parking restrictions.
Burlington, Shelburne Street Roundabout – Construction continues on the Shelburne Street Roundabout located at the intersection of U.S. 7 (Shelburne Street, South Willard Street), Alt. U.S. 7 (Shelburne Street), Locust Street, and Ledge Road. Motorists should expect minimal traffic impacts throughout the week between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.
Charlotte-So. Burlington – A roadway resurfacing project continues along U.S. 7. Nighttime work hours are 7:00 p.m.-6:00 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. Flagged, alternating traffic will be required in the vicinity of active operations. Delays may occur, particularly in the evening hours.
Colchester – Construction continues on the Exit 16 Diverging Diamond Interchange located along U.S 2/7. During daytime hours, motorists should expect single-lane closures along U.S. 2/7 between 6:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. There will be intermittent stoppages weekdays between 6:00 a.m.-7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. to facilitate blasting. Wait times for blasting should not exceed 10 minutes.
During nighttime hours, motorists should expect lane closures between 7:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. At least one travel lane will remain open in each direction.
Essex – A resurfacing project continues on VT 289. Two-way traffic will be maintained with lane shifts Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. as crews mill existing pavement on the east end of project. Minor delays anticipated.
Essex Junction – Work on the second phase of the Crescent Connector project is underway. Crews will continue work on Park Street (VT 2A) just south of the Five Corners intersection early in the week for conduit and drainage installation and sidewalk removal. They will then move to Railroad Street (between VT 15 and VT 117) on Wednesday to begin curb removal and pavement milling. Railroad Street will be closed to through-traffic at this time. Plan on delays in the area and pay attention to signage.
Hartford – A bridge replacement project is underway in Hartford. Motorists can expect one-way alternating traffic on VT 14 and minimal traffic impacts along the VA Cutoff Road and the south side of the bridge by Mill Road and Old River Road. Motorists should be vigilant and watch for trucks entering/exiting the project area.
Hartland – Construction begins at the Hartland 3 Corners intersection of U.S. 5, VT 12, and Quechee Road. The current intersection will be reconstructed into a 4-way intersection, burying utilities and including new pedestrian sidewalks to improve the safety and walkability in the village. Motorists should expect single lane closures with flaggers present to assist motorists through the work zone Monday to Friday between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Killington – A bridge replacement project is underway on U.S. 4 just east of the Skyeship Gondola. The U.S. 4 Bridge #33 over the Ottauquechee River remains closed and traffic continues to use the temporary bridge located just upstream of the existing bridge. Mission Farm Road remains closed at its eastern intersection with U.S. 4. Motorist should expect potential intermittent short stoppages along U.S. 4 near the existing bridge.
A culvert replacement project is also underway on U.S. 4 at Spring Hill Road just east of West Hill Road. Travelers should expect intermittent shoulder closures throughout the project area.
Marshfield-Danville – Motorists can expect daily lane closures with alternating one-way traffic on U.S. 2 between Plainfield and Marshfield for a resurfacing project. Flaggers and Uniformed Traffic Officers will be present to assist motorists through the work zone. Motorists are advised to follow the posted speed limit and travel with caution as areas of the roadway are scarified and have a gravel surface with no markings indicating the centerline and edge line.
Montpelier – A resurfacing project continues on U.S. 2 and U.S. 302. Motorists can expect lane closures and alternating one-way traffic from Bailey Avenue to the start of the project limits at the Middlesex/Montpelier town line, at the Memorial Drive and Bailey Avenue intersection, and on River Street. Flaggers will be present to assist motorists through the work zone.
Morgan – A culvert replacement project is underway on VT 111 southeast of Seymour Lake. Be advised that a full road closure is scheduled to begin on Monday, 06/12 and will remain in effect until late August. Local detour routes will be in place. Minor delays may occur.
Lyndon-Burke – A series of culvert replacements is underway along U.S. 5 between Lyndon and Burke. Expect to encounter alternating one-way traffic with short delays along U.S. 5 weekdays from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. between the VT 122/VT 114/U.S. 5 intersection continuing north to West Burke Village.
New Haven – Work continues to progress on the intersection improvement project at VT 17/East Street/Sawyer Road. Alternating one-way traffic on VT 17 controlled by flaggers will be in place during the daytime work hours of 6:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
Plymouth – A bridge deck replacement project is underway along VT 100 1.5 miles south of the intersection of VT 100 and VT 100A. A speed limit reduction to 40 mph is in effect with an alternating one-way traffic pattern regulated by temporary signals. Motorists can expect minor delays through the work zone.
Poultney – A bridge replacement project is ongoing at the intersection of Thrall Road and River Street where a yield to one-way alternating traffic pattern remains in place through the work zone. Motorists should be advised that concrete trucks will continue to access both abutments intermittently in the coming weeks.
Richmond – Replacement of Bridge #29 along U.S. 2 over I-89 is underway. Travelers can expect lane closures with traffic control present allowing for one lane of alternating travel.
Richmond-Bolton – Rehabilitation of U.S. 2 continues. Motorists can expect moderate interruptions with areas of one-way alternating traffic, Sunday through Thursday 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. between Lemroy Court and the I-89 interchange, and Monday through Friday 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. throughout the project. Motorists can also expect to be traveling on some areas of gravel surface between Snipe Ireland Road and Lemroy Court. Please slow down.
Royalton – Construction efforts for the VT 14 railroad bridge replacement and roadway realignment continue. Traffic is currently reduced to one lane with the use of temporary traffic signals. Flaggers may be used during the day with the signals turned off to run alternating one-way traffic for construction operations. There will be truck and equipment traffic turning in and out of the construction work area. Please be aware of the 12’-1” overpass clearance and follow signage.
St. Johnsbury – Maintenance repairs for a bridge on I-91 at Exit 20 will result in single lane closures of U.S. 5 under the construction zone. These lane closures will shift location throughout the week as work progresses.
Stowe - The Stowe VT 100/West Hill Road intersection project continues. Crews will install new signal equipment, wiring, and line striping. Once complete, they will place the traffic signal on “flash” to help the traveling public become accommodated to the new traffic pattern. These operations will require lane closures and the use of flaggers.
Thetford – NHDOT is leading a rehabilitation of the East Thetford-Lyme Bridge along VT 113. The bridge is closed for construction. Two signed detour routes are in place along I-91 connecting Fairlee, VT and Orford, NH in the north, and Norwich, VT and Hanover, NH in the south.
Waterbury – Work on the Downtown Main Street project continues. Travelers will encounter periods of alternating one-way traffic on U.S. 2 (Main Street) as crews work on removing existing utility poles and possibly prep new sidewalk. Also expect some delays and flagged traffic at the Main Street/Park Row intersection for drainage work.
Williston – A long-term lane shift is in place on U.S. 2 between Gregory Drive, South Burlington and Adams Drive, Williston. Traffic impacts will be minimal, but motorists should expect flaggers present to allow construction vehicles in/out of the work areas.
Williston Park and Ride – Construction of a new park and ride facility along VT 2A continues. One-way alternating traffic will be required on VT 2A between 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Please use caution when traveling through the project area. Expect delays.
Wilmington-Brattleboro – A resurfacing project is underway on VT 9. Motorists can expect alternating one-way traffic along VT 9 in Marlboro as crews continue paving. Flaggers will be present to assist motorists through the work zone.
