As Vermont navigates the aftermath of historic flooding and its impact on our communities, businesses across the state are grappling with meeting the immediate needs of their families, employees, and business while trying to figure out where and how to apply for financial assistance.

In response, Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility and Vermont Outdoor Business Alliance are partnering to host this virtual forum will include panelists offering public and private financial assistance to discuss the resources available to businesses and organizations, how to navigate the system, and Q&A.

OUTDOOR BUSINESS SUPPORT FOR VERMONT

Bivo is donating 100% of the profit from a new Happy Holsteins bottle to New Farms for New Americans, a program that provides land for refugee and immigrant families in Vermont to farm and during the flood. One hundred families lost food for seven months in the recent flooding. 

Vermont Glove is donating 50% of proceeds from Vermont Strong engraved gloves through August 6 and Darn Tough recently wrapped up a fundraiser for the VT Flood Response and Recovery Fund 2023.

Skida is donating 20% of proceeds from the sale of a collection to the Vermont Farm Fund through the end of July.

VERMONT FLOOD RECOVERY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE


VERMONT MAIN STREET FLOOD RECOVERY FUND 

The Vermont Main Street Flood Recovery Fund is currently accepting tax-deductible donations to provide grants to small businesses in the range of $2,500-$10,000. Businesses can currently apply to cover costs such as equipment replacement, supplies, and clean-up. 

MONTPELIER STRONG RECOVERY FUND

Montpelier Alive and the Montpelier Foundation have created the Montpelier Strong Recovery Fund. Donations can be made on montpelierfoundation.org or montpelieralive.com/flood2023.


BUSINESS EMERGENCY GAP ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

The Agency of Commerce and Community Development (ACCD) has announced the Business Emergency Gap Assistance Program to provide $20 million in state grants for Vermont businesses and nonprofits that suffered physical losses in the flood. Details are coming for business owners to apply for grants to support demonstrated losses to their physical space and replacements of inventory, machinery, equipment, and supplies. FLOOD DISASTER RECOVERY LOANS

The Vermont State Employees Credit Union (VSECU) in partnership with the Vermont Community Foundation is offering 0% financing on up to $3,000 for Vermont residents with an emergency loan. Learn more here.

VT FLOOD RESPONSE AND RECOVERY FUND 2023

The Vermont Community Foundation is accepting donations for the VT Flood Response and Recovery Fund 2023 to support Vermonters responding to and recovering from the floods.

Our hearts go out to the families, neighbors, business owners, and employees impacted by flooding around the state. We are deeply grateful for the collective action, volunteerism, and generosity of resources in our communities as clean up continues and economic and community recovery begins.

We acknowledge that support for our brave little state comes in the form of visiting the many communities that can be accessed safely and shopping at the business that are open or have reopened. Recreate responsibly and support local businesses!
