$1 Million Soon Available for Schools and Municipal Buildings

The Public Service Department (PSD) issued this notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) for Vermont’s public schools and municipalities to access $1.0 million in U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) funds through a congressionally directed spending award originating with Senator Bernie Sanders. Grant awards will be made to provide financial and technical support for the installation and/or repair of clean energy technologies in public schools and municipal buildings in underserved and disadvantaged communities in Vermont with the goal of lowering their energy costs, decrease emissions from heating and power sources, and increase the exposure and experience with clean energy technologies in these public buildings.

The clean energy measures supported via this funding opportunity will be limited to the following three technologies:

  • Solar photovoltaics (PV) systems (up to 15kW AC)
  • Advanced wood-fueled heating systems
  • Cold climate air- or ground-source heat pumps

VTrans' Draft Carbon Reduction Strategy

Your Input Needed - Aug 2 Virtual Meetings & Survey

To help ensure Vermont achieves its carbon pollution reduction requirements and meets the US Department of Transportation’s requirement for every state to develop a Carbon Reduction Strategy, the Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans) is developing a plan to reduce emissions in our transportation sector. Even with the state's recent efforts to reduce transportation emissions – Vermont’s most polluting sector – there is still a gap projected in the state’s ability to meet both the 2030 and 2050 emissions reduction requirements.

VTrans is inviting all Vermonters to participate in a survey and attend virtual public meetings on August 2, at 12:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. via Zoom to help inform and shape the state’s Carbon Reduction Strategy. Virtual meeting details available here.
