Vermont Business Magazine Howard Center and the South Burlington Rotary Club are delighted to announce the success of their joint effort, the 11th Annual Curling Challenge fundraiser, held in March 2023.The Curling Challenge was made possible thanks to the shared vision and commitment of Howard Center, the South Burlington Rotary Club, Dragonheart Vermont, and the Green Mountain Curling Club.

This event marked a triumphant return after a hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic and garnered significant support from the local community, raising an impressive $10,000 for Howard Center. Over thirty teams of four took to the ice at Cairns Arena to curl for a worthy cause.

Tom O’Keefe, President of the South Burlington Rotary Club, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, "The Curling Challenge aligns perfectly with our mission to serve and support our community, fostering understanding, goodwill, and peace through fellowship with local businesses, professionals, and community leaders. We are thrilled to have successfully hosted this year's event, and we anticipate raising greater awareness and support for both organizations."

The 2023 Curling Challenge saw generous support from community business sponsors, who played a vital role in contributing to the fundraiser's success.

The funds raised from the Curling Challenge were dedicated to support the many essential Howard Center programs that cater to the needs of individuals and families in the community. These programs encompass a wide range of services, including crisis support, residential programs, specialized schools, street outreach initiatives, as well as substance use treatment and recovery. The funds will also be used to support basic needs, enrichment, and holiday activities for individuals and families.

Denise Vignoe, Director of Development and Communications at Howard Center, expressed her gratitude for the South Burlington Rotary Club's support, stating, "We are incredibly grateful to the South Burlington Rotary Club for their unwavering commitment to the people we serve. The Curling Challenge not only strengthens our partnership but also allows us to forge new connections within our community. Together, we are making a positive impact on the lives of people in our community."

The Green Mountain Curling Club, with the assistance of the Rutland Rocks Curling Club, provided invaluable instruction and equipment for all 32 teams who competed throughout the day at Cairns Arena in South Burlington. The event welcomed the public to witness the matches and show support for the cause.
