Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles The DMV offices in Montpelier and St Johnsbury are closed. For customers impacted by the closures, we are opening the White River Junction office as an alternative site on Thursday, July 13, 2023. All other offices remain open currently. Appointments are strongly encouraged.

Saint Johnsbury office will be closed this week due to road closures in the area.

Due to a power outage at our Montpelier location, our phones are not working. We are unable to take incoming calls.
As a result of the recent storm, the Montpelier DMV office will be closed through the end of the week and will look to reopen on Monday, July 17, 2023
The following DMV offices are now open for regular hours.
- Bennington
- Newport
- Rutland
- South Burlington
- Springfield
White River Junction will open on Thursday, 7/13
St Johnsbury will open on Friday, 7/14
It will be especially helpful to make an appointment as wait times could be long if you do not have an appointment. Please visit "Make an Appointment to schedule an appointment or to reschedule an appointment for Montpelier or another location.
You are encouraged to access DMV services online at Online Services. Online services are easy to use to renew your license or registration or obtain a temporary registration for a newly purchased vehicle. DMV will process online requests quickly while we work to reopen all offices.
