Vermont Forest Future Stakeholder Survey

Vermont Agency of Agriculture Food & Markets The Vermont Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation (FPR) is beginning a robust public engagement process to identify opportunities to help Vermont chart a path forward to protect the long-term viability of forest-based businesses and the many benefits they provide to the state’s environment, economy, and quality of life.

To launch the project, FPR is asking all users of Vermont forest products to complete a survey to help understand their perspectives and opinions about key topics shaping the future of the forest economy and forest products sector in Vermont.

The survey includes a series of 12 main topic questions and will take 15-20 minutes to complete. The survey is open until January 31st.

Performance Program

Applications are now open for the Vermont Pay for Performance (VPFP) program from the Water Quality Division of VAAFM.

VPFP is an innovative new program that uses environmental modeling to provide performance-based payments to farmers for reducing phosphorus losses from their fields.

VPFP pays for the outcomes of practices and targets water quality resources towards the highest impact farms and fields.

This half-day workshop aims to bring together various federal, state, and philanthropic partners who will detail upcoming conservation grant announcements that will support project work in the upper basin watershed of the Connecticut River Valley.

This workshop is intended for local associations, municipalities, conservation groups, and others. You will hear from funders, learn important tips for creating a competitive proposal, and speak directly with funders about proposal ideas.

Build Your Labor Management Know-How

Workshops from the Farm Labor Dashboard project will help farmers build knowledge and skills they need to recruit and manage the right employees for their farms.

The workshops are geared to produce and diversified livestock farmers who are new to managing employees. Women farmers’ learning needs and priorities are integrated throughout the series.

These free online workshops take place January-March. Topics include staffing, optimizing employee performance, and negotiating & labor management.
