Agency of Transportation Awards Grants for the LVRT
Communities along the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail were awarded federal grant funds, secured by Senator Bernie Sanders, to improve trail amenities and visitor experience. Improvements to trailheads, picnic areas, kiosks, signage, connections to downtowns, and art & history installations are all community assets that support local recreation, transportation, and economic development. St. Johnsbury, Danville, Walden, Greensboro and Hardwick had winning projects. Greensboro also received a $191,466 LVRT Community Grant for trailhead construction in Greensboro Bend!

New Willey Woods Community Forest
The Town of Burke and the Burke Conservation Commission now own and manage the Willey Woods Community Forest in West Burke. The conserved land will protect the rural character of the Northeast Kingdom and support educational and recreation opportunities for generations to come.
Healthy Equity & Community Design Technical Assistance
The VT Department of Health and Department of Housing & Community Development are announcing a technical assistance pilot to support community-led design, placemaking, and healthy equity projects across Vermont. Approximately 20-35 applicants will be accepted on a rolling basis for in-person and virtual engagement sessions between December 2022 and October 2023. Business AnnouncementsSeeking Feedback on Voluntary Paid Leave Program Governor Scott recently announced the Vermont Family & Medical Leave Insurance Plan, the first voluntary paid leave program that will give working Vermonters access to affordable paid family and medical leave insurance by 2025. The program will be available to employers with two or more employees beginning July 1, 2024. The Department of Economic Development is collecting feedback from employers about interest in participating. The program remains open while applications continue to be processed in the order they were received, but applicants should understand that funding is not guaranteed.
