Vermont Business Magazine The Rutland Area Medical Community Scholarship committee recently completed its 2022 fundraising in support of the annual scholarship program raising close to $27,000 thanks to the generosity of Rutland area physicians, retired physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners.
The Rutland area medical community established the scholarship program in 2016. Since that time, twenty-eight scholarships have been awarded to local recipients.
The scholarship is intended to stimulate the region’s best and brightest students by encouraging them to continue their education in the field of healthcare. The scholarship awards are designed to create opportunities that empower recipients to achieve excellence in education.
“We continue to be grateful to our local medical community for their generous support to sustain the scholarship program. It is their commitment and collaboration that allows us to support individuals who want to pursue their goal of higher education in the healthcare field.” said Dr. Stanley Shapiro, Medical Director of the Rutland Heart Center, and volunteer Co-Chair of the Rutland Area Medical Community Scholarship Committee. “We look forward to this year’s application process and awarding several scholarships later this spring.”
Shapiro leads the volunteer committee with co-chair and retired Rutland Regional surgeon, Dr. Victor Pisanelli, Jr.
The 2023 Rutland Area Medical Community Scholarship application is currently available for qualified candidates who are interested in pursuing or furthering their career in healthcare. Eligible candidates include high school seniors, local college students or Rutland area medical community employees.
