by Brian Lowe, Executive Director, Vermont Council on Rural Development The Vermont Council on Rural Development is a tremendous organization, and it has been a privilege to lead the organization for two years. The work supporting people and communities across the state is always important, the VCRD team is talented, dedicated, and thoughtful, and the Board has outstanding leaders who bring valuable perspective to the mission.
VCRD’s work is vital and will continue with a new leader in the next phase. I have decided to leave VCRD at the end of September. The Board will identify an Interim Director in the coming weeks, and has already begun the planning for a thorough transition and search process.
It is a hard decision to leave, but I’m confident in the path VCRD has charted for the future. There is exciting work ahead, including new Community Visits, the re-imagined Climate Economy program, the new partnership with the Preservation Trust and Vermont Community Foundation, and more.
It has been a pleasure to get to know so many hard-working and brilliant people across Vermont in this role. We live in a small state of small towns – I hope to see many of you before late September or to see you again in the future.
