Come Visit the Vermont Building at the Big E

Vermont Agency of Agriculture Food & Markets The Big E is now open! From now through October 2nd, visit the Avenue of the States during the Big E, the only fair in the U.S. where more than one state participates.

On this educational thoroughfare you'll see impressive replicas of each New England state's original statehouse sitting on land actually owned by that state.

The Vermont Building will be filled with a long list of Vermont vendors including Eden Specialty Ciders, Halladay’s Harvest Barn, Bergamot + Amor, Treeline Terrains, Nomadic Kitchen, KIS Kombucha, and many more. Come support local businesses who make the Vermont Building so special!

Vermont Day is Saturday, September 24th. Last year almost 170,000 people attended the Big E on Vermont Day, so get your tickets soon!

You can buy your tickets to the Big E here. You do not need separate tickets to visit the Vermont Building or any of the buildings at the Avenue of the States!

Farm to Plate 12th Annual Network Gathering

Registration Open for the Farm to Plate Annual Gathering

Join Vermont Farm to Plate for their one-day Annual Network Gathering at the Killington Grand Resort in Killington, Vermont.

This year's Gathering is all about "Cultivating Connections." Coming out of the depths of the COVID-19 pandemic, the desire to reconnect in-person runs deep.

This is the first opportunity in two years, and first since the launch of the new Farm to Plate Network structure, to strengthen and forge new connections.

Registration is required and the price ranges from $65-$189 depending on meals. Some scholarships are available. Early bird registration is open until October 13th.

Organic Regulation Trainings at Vermont Tech

Vermont Tech is offering two Organic Specialist Trainings in October.

These trainings are for existing farmers, new farmers, and people interested in becoming an organic specialist or pursuing a career in organic certification.

The trainings include in-person lectures, discussion groups, and field trips. It is preceded by a four-hour online workshop on the history and meaning of organic and its requirements.

These paid trainings cost $300 each and take place at Vermont Tech's Randolph Campus.

The training for organic crops is October 3rd-4th and the training for livestock is October 5th-6th. Register here.

Low Emission & Electric Vehicle Rulemaking Public Events

Join the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources for two September events to discuss how transportation choices in Vermont are related to air quality and climate change impacts and solutions.

The events will focus on the rules and policies proposed to further advance the electrification of VT transportation.

These events are a great chance for Vermonters to weigh in on how Vermont can make the transition to cleaner and electric vehicles and provide public comment.

Northeast Organic Dairy Producers Association Field Days

Join the Northeast Organic Dairy Producers Association for their 22nd Annual Field Days. Participate in two farm tours, seven workshops focused on organic dairy, a dynamic trade show, and time to eat and socialize.

Organic dairy is facing a challenging time with high prices, supply side delays, and economic downturns. The Field Days are an opportunity to tackle some of the key issues, have fun, and address challenges.

The Field Days are free for organic producers or those actively transitioning to organic production. Otherwise the cost to register is $35, with additional optional meals for each day. Registration is required.
