
Vermont Business Magazine October is National Farm to School Month! Schools and early childhood providers can celebrate by applying for the Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets’ Farm to School and Early Childhood Grant.
This grant provides financial and technical assistance to schools and early childhood education providers to help develop or grow their farm to school and early childhood programs. The Farm to School and Early Childhood Grant opens for applications on October 3rd.
Eligible applicants are Vermont registered or licensed early childhood education providers; a consortium of early care providers; independent schools participating in any federal child nutrition programs; individual public schools; or supervisory unions (SU) or educational districts on behalf of a public school or consortium of schools.
Awards will range from $5,000-$20,000 based on the total student/child population of all organizations involved in the application.

Reminder: Capital Equipment Assistance Program
A reminder that the Capital Equipment Assistance Program closes on November 1st!
Financial assistance is available for new or innovative equipment that will aid in the reduction of surface runoff of agricultural wastes and state waters, reduce odors from manure application, separate phosphorus from manure, decrease greenhouse gas emissions, and reduce costs to farmers.
Generally, the program will cover 90% of the equipment cost with varying limits depending on the type of equipment.

Dairy Herd Management Technical Assistance
The Northeast Dairy Business Innovation Center is excited to announce the availability of technical services to dairy farmers.
Specialists will deliver technical assistance to farm business managers, targeting specific areas of dairy management with the goal of making improvements to their operations and bottom line.
Technical service providers can assist in areas such as; milk quality, grazing and pasture management, dairy nutrition, animal husbandry, animal housing/facilities, and personnel.

Salvation Farms Aid Benefit Concert
Come to the Double E Performance Center in Essex for Salvation Farms' third annual Salvation Farms Aid Benefit Concert!
Presented by Front Porch Forum, come celebrate local and support Salvation Farms, a nonprofit in Morrisville focused on increasing resilience in Vermont's food system.
The evening includes live music, a dinner made entirely from locally grown surplus produce, a cash bar featuring local breweries, and a silent auction filled with amazing local gifts and getaways.
