Scott Cabinet officials to visit Essex and Orleans counties

Vermont Business Magazine Scott Administration officials will be visiting Essex and Orleans counties on Thursday to hear from community leaders about their unique infrastructure needs and to discuss the many funding opportunities available to them via federal funding from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) of 2021. Officials will offer guidance on how communities can apply for assistance with tangible economic development, housing, water and sewer, climate change mitigation measures, and broadband projects.

When: Thursday, November 17, 2022    

While Officials will be using the day for various one-on-one support meetings in both Essex and Orleans Counties, a list of events open to the media and public are sorted by Agency or Department below.

Description: Introduction and discussion about state and ARPA infrastructure resources that are available in Essex and Orleans Counties, and a listening session/round table to discuss any/all regional and municipal project needs. Attendees will hear from and have access to the Agency of Commerce and Community Development, Buildings and General Services, Agency of Transportation, Agency of Natural Resources, Department of Libraries, Agency of Agriculture, the Vermont Community Broadband Board and other Stage Agencies and Departments.

This discussion is open to the public first come first serve. Room capacity is 50 people.

Public Service Department

The Department of Public Service will sponsor utility assistance application support for renters to be held on November 17th and November 22nd in various Northeast Kingdom locations.

The Department of Public Service will be promoting, and enrolling interested renters who need help with back or current balances for fuel and utilities with the VERAP-U and Rapid Energy Assistance Program (REAP).  VERAP-Utility Assistance helps renters with heating fuel and utilities and the REAP program allows for rapid enrollment for customers of participating fuel providers.
