Cabot and King Arthur collaborate on mindfulness program for kids

“Let Good Thoughts Rise” helps kids relax and feel focused through baking

Vermont Business Magazine Cabot Creamery Cooperative and King Arthur Baking Company will host a mindfulness event on Friday November 11, at Harwood Union High School in Moretown, Vermont, to share their “Let Good Thoughts Rise” program with educators and eventually their students. Teachers will be led through a hands-on baking demonstration that shows how baking with a small group of students can be a great way to relax and improve focus.

Cabot Creamery Cooperative and The Bake for Good Program at King Arthur Baking Company joined forces last March to create the “Let Good Thoughts Rise” program — an educational initiative that teaches kids how mindfulness can help them feel focused and relaxed as they move through the world.

The program was created in response to increased mental health stressors on school-age children as a result of the pandemic. Anyone who completes the program earns a patch and other fun prizes. So far, more than 8,500 students and troops have completed the program from across the country.

“Cabot has a long history of developing education programs for youth, that align with our co-op and B Corp values,” said Sara Wing, Director of Community Marketing. “Partnering with King Arthur Baking Company - a fellow B Corp - felt like a natural fit. This program is a great way to spread good in our community and beyond."

There is a natural connection between mindfulness and baking,” said Amy Driscoll, Bake for Good Program Manager at King Arthur Baking. “Teachers will learn how the simple acts of measuring, mixing and shaping can give you a sense of calm, peace, and balance that can benefit your emotional well-being and overall health. A great skill to practice and develop at any age.”
