Vermont Agency of Transportation US Route 2 at the temporary drawbridge is open to two lanes of traffic. The contractor is generally working from 6:30 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday through Saturday.
The temporary bridge has a speed limit of 25 mph. There are tight curves approaching the temporary bridge, and trucks are advised to reduce speed to 15 mph. Bicycles should use caution while crossing the bridge.
The work zone speed limit is enforced, and individuals have been ticketed for excessive speeding. Obeying the speed limit is extremely important for everyone's safety.
NOTICE TO MARINERS: The seasonal operating schedule for the drawbridge has ended. Now through November 15, 2022, the temporary drawbridge will be de-constructed. There will be a vertical height restriction during this time. Vessels that can pass under the bridge without an opening may do so if at least four-hour notice is given by calling the bridge tender, (802) 372-4360.
Mariners are advised to plan their transits accordingly and exercise caution when transiting the area. Chart 14781 LNM 21/22 (CGD1)
CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES: The contractor installed guardrail for the east and west approach, along the north side of US Route 2. The remaining guardrail on the south side of Route 2 will be installed in the Spring 2023 when the temporary bridge approaches have been removed.
The contractor is currently completing acceptance testing of the new drawbridge. We will send a separate eblast notification once all testing is complete and traffic can be placed on the new bridge. This notification will occur within the week.
