Association will conduct search for new leadership and continue focus on pandemic recovery and ensuring the health of all Vermonters
Vermont Business Magazine Another healthcare leader is leaving the state. Vermont Association of Hospitals and Health Systems (VAHHS) announced today that president and CEO Jeff Tieman will depart the organization in June to lead the hospital association in his home state of Colorado.
Tieman has led the association representing Vermont’s non-profit hospital system for almost six years, successfully navigating the country’s most complex regulatory environment, and serving as the key point of contact for hospitals with the State of Vermont in our nationally lauded pandemic response.
Northwestern Medical Center recently announced that its CEO, Dr Dean French, is leaving for a position in Kentucky.
“On behalf of Vermont’s hospitals, we want to congratulate Jeff and thank him for his service to our state,” said Claudio Fort, president and CEO of Rutland Regional Medical Center and VAHHS Board Chair. “We are very proud of the work we have done together to advance health care reform in Vermont, protect health care services in our aging and rural state and respond so effectively during the pandemic. We will put into place a search process that ensures we continue our forward progress on all fronts.”
Tieman relocated to Vermont in 2016 from Washington, DC where he served as Chief of Staff for the Catholic Health Association.
“I have absolutely cherished my time in Vermont, working so closely with our hospitals and will continue to be a champion for their cause,” shared Tieman. “I have always been impressed by and proud of how Vermont’s hospitals work together to ensure high quality, respond to major crises, contain cost growth and protect access where it would otherwise be lost. My hope is that state leaders and regulators continue to realize how awesome and important that is and will support our hospitals as they fight to recover from the pandemic and keep Vermont healthy and thriving.”
Tieman’s last day will be June 30. VAHHS will announce plans for interim leadership and a search for a permanent president and CEO in the weeks to come.
