NEW NON-STOP FLIGHTS TO MINNEAPOLIS-SAINT PAUL INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (MSP) FROM BURLINGTON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (BTV) AND STRONG AIR SERVICE UPGAGED MAINLINE SERVICE
Vermont Business Magazine Today, the Burlington International Airport (BTV) welcomed seasonal service to Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (MSP) on Sun Country Airlines. The inaugural flight will land in BTV from MSP at 9:56 a.m. EST and will depart for the Twin Cities at 10:50 a.m. EST.
“As Burlington International Airport continues to grow, Vermonters have more options to travel for work and with their families. We also have an opportunity to welcome more visitors to our great City and State,” said Miro Weinberger, Mayor of Burlington.
“Sun Country’s decision to serve BTV’s community is one that we are thankful for,” said Nic Longo, Acting Director of Aviation, Burlington International Airport. “I am pleased to welcome another low-cost travel option to BTV and look forward to building upon the relationship that has been established.”
The MSP market is the seventh largest market currently not being served by a direct flight from BTV. Not only will Sun Country Airlines be servicing MSP on Thursdays and Sundays this summer season, but Delta Air Lines has begun serving MSP from BTV on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays as well.
MSP marks the fifteenth non-stop destination for BTV. The addition of MSP as a direct destination assisting in achieving a 12-year high in the number of seats available departing from BTV over the next four summer months, which is the highest number of seats ever offered from BTV.
Coupled with new service, mainline service has been upgaged from American Airlines to Washington, D.C. (DCA), Chicago (ORD), and Charlotte (CLT), United Airlines to Chicago (ORD), Denver (DEN), and Newark (EWR), and Delta Air Lines to Atlanta (ATL), which offers on average 138 seats per aircraft up from the standard of 75 seats for regional service aircraft and provides passengers with an enhanced experience.
Further air service developments have been confirmed, including the return of direct Miami (MIA) service via American Airlines in November, as well as daily service being offered to Denver (DEN) this summer.
